Guest guest
I take it as needed, and have been using it on and off for around 18 months. I alternate between licorice and cortisol, or salt. At times I have used it for several months in a row. On Salt/C I have not needed it very much. It seems to have a similar effect to the Salt/C - and I believe it does help regulate salt. I don't want to take it forever because it does increase estrogen and decrease testosterone a small amount. --Kurt Re: SPAM-LOW: stress > > Do you make the tea of Baschetti licorice by Milk? Guest guest
Hi gang, I am in Australia and could not find the Baschetti Licorice locally. I know I can have it sent over but postage & exchange rates, etc, work out expensive. My husband found some dried licorice roots in a local shop. We have no instructions on them so I just put a couple of teaspoons into a tea pot with a couple of cups of boiling water. Does this sound like a reasonable dose? Does anyone know? Thanks, Rosemary. _____ From: Kurt (web) [mailto:kurt@...] Sent: Tuesday, 29 March 2005 1:26 PM Subject: RE: SPAM-LOW: licorice * I take it as needed, and have been using it on and off for around 18 months. Guest guest
Here is what I found at web. `Licorice root is known to stimulate the adrenal glands and to block the breakdown of active cortisol in the body. It takes 2.5 grams of licorice root daily to make a significant improvement in CFS. While there have been no large clinical trials to test licorice in patients with CFS, it may be worth a trial of six to eight weeks using 2–3 grams of licorice root daily. ` Best wishes Nil > Hi gang, > > I am in Australia and could not find the Baschetti Licorice locally. Guest guest
Hi Nil, The Licorice I have is ground up and powdery. It looks a bit like chamomile tea, but chunkier. I wonder if I should use 2.5 grams of the dry powder? The Baschetti Licorice root looks like some sort of paste or liquid. Is that correct? Thanks for the help, Rosemary. _____ From: yildiz2113 [mailto:yildiz22@...] Sent: Thursday, 31 March 2005 8:54 AM Subject: Re: SPAM-LOW: licorice Here is what I found at web. `Licorice root is known to stimulate the adrenal glands and to block the breakdown of active cortisol in the body. Guest guest
Rose, I wished I could help. I really don't know.I think you need to be careful. No information on the box?Is it grounded licorice root only? Also licorice root is traditionally consumed by boiling the roots. So,when I read that info at web,I automatically thought 2.5 mg root should be boiled. This is different than directly ingesting the powder. Also I think you also need to consider taking it in divided doses through the day. While making a search yesterday I found a group named adrenal_ recovery. Dave who is using licorice in CFS treatement has started it. You may take your chance of asking him.He is actually discussing the therapy only with people who have decided to take his therapy but he might help you.I think you need to do some more search before starting it. Best wishes. Nil

Guest guest
The Baschetti (from Italian doctor) licorice is ground powder that looks like instant coffee or chocolate. It takes kind of sweet. You add it to hot water to dissolve then to milk goat or ricemilk. I added 2 tablespoons to 1/2 cup hot water, stir, cool and to quart of ricemilk (half of clymer recipe so I could pour it right into quart). Then drink cup a day before breakfast on empty stomach. Other naturpaths might sell it and would be doctor to regulate it. Dr. D'adamo of eatright4yourtype.com also recommended licorice tea for CFS. Available as teabags or as cut up root (like dried carrot which needs to be boiled for several minutes to make tea). Best to take any morning or noonish or can effect your internal clock. Tea would be a mild way to try it out, sold with other herbal teas. If take licorice for a while may need extra potassium. > Hi gang, > > I am in Australia and could not find the Baschetti Licorice locally. I know > > The Licorice I have is ground up and powdery. Guest guest
Hi, I felt a need to say that as it sometimes happen in complementary medicine there are always chances that practitioner is not practicing correctly. Dosage, timing, etc may be wrong. So it could be that it was not the licorice but the way it was administered to you was wrong. Some substances may help us but we need to use them in correct way. Best wishes:) Nil Re: SPAM-LOW: licorice > > hi i was given licorice in an iv and gained 3-5 lbs in 24 hours it was > very diruptive to my adrenal glands and i would never touch it personally > tealk( weight was all fluid from rapid onset and amount) > > >
