Guest guest
Thankyou to tansyap for the kind reply per Boswellic efficacy. I too, take Bromelain, tansyap.... And thankyou to shogi64 for the great link, and suggestion to add the tumeric as well quercitin. I understand the synergy of herbs as they work together, but have gone back to square one, adding ONE at a time to see how it affects me. I am so plagued with chemical sensitivites! Will let the group know what happens with the Boswellia; it arrived just this minute in the mail. btw... got DOSAGE info on it, anyone? I am VERY interested the the ECGC mentioned by shogi in post below: " I am thinking about adding ECGC (the active ingredient of green tea polyphenols-- seems to be alot of good papers out there on this, do search on tea polyphenols STAT1)--wondering what others would think about this... " Sounds good to me... off to do some research on it. Guest guest
Hi Nina The two products I have used were 500mg Boswellia (Boswellic Acids 65%). I quickly built my dose up to 1 tid and stayed there for some months, then I lowered it to 1 bid, then just one each day. I stopped it a little while ago in case it was affecting my immune response to the borrrelia etc; I am on a samento based protocol, but may go back onto the boswellia again. I have just ordered turmeric and intended using that alongside the bromelain. I will wait to see how that goes, and if I tolerate it, before adding the boswellia again if it still seems worthwhile. With limited finances it always seems to be a matter of juggling everything on an ongoing basis. I just drink decaf organic green tea, I am not aware of any obvious benefits though. Cheers, Tansy > > > Thankyou to tansyap for the kind reply per Boswellic efficacy. I > too, take Bromelain, tansyap.... I'm a PWC. (seems this is a heterogenous group, not only CFIDS, Lyme, syndrome etc., I also realize everybody reacts differently to meds). Cognition really improved with the Piracetam. I think ALC and L-carnitine very impt. also (fatigue), hydroxy or methylcobalomin (B12) sq or add high dose to IV (one study showed restoration of RBC shape with regular B12 injections), agree with all the Vit D discussion (very impt for immune function). Also do low dose cortisol (very different from prednisone)--dirt cheap, 20 mg tab take 1/2 tab only in AM as I am convinced CFIDS has mild to significant hypodrenal (addison's like) aspect, which like Cheney I believe goes all the way back to the hypothalamus... After I got CFIDS my testosterone went off the chart. (also made in adrenal). Maybe I'm velvetbean/horny goat weed deficient, or is it dear antler? ( " Safe Uses of Cortisol " 2nd Ed. Jeffries, MD) I take T3LA 60 mcg but can't argue with somebody taking armour. I just tend to shy away from glandulars, last thing I need is some Prion! i don't do fish oils either (Barry Sears goes through some long drawn out extraction process to get all the dioxins, mercury, PCB's etc out of fish oil besides charging a small fortune); good literature support for EPA and DHA, so I tend to stay with the plants (eat low on the food chain so they say--but I quit going as low as the chlorella!), organic flax oil 1200 mg daily (Nature's bounty) and Omega 3-6-9 (Now) all from iherb since they seem to be the cheapest source I have found. Add all the antioxidants you can handle, esp ALA, C as tolerated at a minimum. Went off GH about a year ago, and I'm missing it. Time to order another boatload, injections just seem to be an unfortunate necessity. Can't comment on DHEA in women, what do you take- pregnenalone? I do the bromelain thing along with the Natto, quit the wobenzym...i'll post my meal replacement shake someday...everything in moderation. Sympathize with the MCS. Why is Nina always smiling?? ;-)
Guest guest
Shogi64, ty for your help! I pasted your post below. I have begun the Boswellia and find it benign and helpful. I do take B12 injections but wonder if the type is " good enough " : cyanocobalimin? Is all I can afford, anyway. I have been on Cortef for three years. But I have lost access to the physician who had ordered it. New doc: " I am NOT prescribing you ANY antibiotics or STEROIDS " , in a rather aggressive and demeaning tone. sheesh He just switched me from 2 Grains of Armour to 1 G Armour plus 10 mcg of Cytomel. I have no idea what his logic is. His first move was to take me off thyroid altogether. I became extremely ill, so he graciously let me resume it...ahem. Today I found out he has no intention of increasing the Cytomel. He has told me to drop the Armour. (GACK!) ( And, soooo Virginia, we arrive at the WHY of nina's SMILE. She is smiling all the time to prove she can, to prove that ignorance, abandonment by the medical profession, poverty and loss of friends and family CANNOT HAVE HER SMILE! I asked her if she FELT like smiling all the time, and she said, " Double L, no! " , but that when she smiles first, oftentimes the feeling follows. ) DHEA: Women should " use with caution " and take 5 to 15 mg. of DHEA, per the " Pill Book Guide to Natural Medicines " , author: Murray. Other sources say the same thing : " Men 40 to 50 yrs old take 15 to 25 mg. and men over 50 take 25 to 50 mg. " Murray's book also says, " people with systemic lupus... and other autoimmune diseases seem to require high doses, 100-200 mg. a day. Such high levels should never be taken without medical supervision. " Note: acne is the bane of this supplement for many women! I take a compounded troche of DHEA/pregnenolone. And was initially prescribed 20 mg a day. But reduced that dose immediately to about 5 mg a day for the last three years. Because new doc will not help me, I am moving to an OTC brand this week. I think of it as one of my ESSENTIAL meds...and I HATE zits. Oh! Just did a search on Piracetam! yipeeeeeee! ( I am easily amused, lol.) I mean, rather, that this sounds like something I want to TRY! tytyty, Shogi! Got more info? I am VERY new to trying to heal myself here. And very isolated. So all ideas are welcome. Just found this as well! A LIQUID is another NEW idea to me! I LIKE this! >>>>>> " DHEA* Liquid (1 drop = 4 mg) DHEA is controlled in Australia, Canada, Norway 2200 mg 14 ML $44.95 " The site listing DHEA says... " US citizens may legally import a 3 month supply of medicine under FDA regulations " If this is so, what about prescription meds? I see Doxycycline listed among things this outfit sells.. hmmm If I can find ANY source of LEGAL Ampicillin I would be delighted. Got info? " Got Bromelain " , nina says, and then wanders off mumbling " Natto, Natto...what in the sam hill is Natto? " " May you always know the truth, and see the LIGHTS surrounding you...
