Guest guest
Our daughter also developed normally until about age 2, and was otherwise healthy except for losing speech and social skills and developing autistic behaviors. We saw Dr G last December and began the full diet and meds in January. She has not fully recovered, but her personality has returned. She is involved and engaged. Speech is slowly coming back, and compliance in general is going well. Her teachers were amazed at the improvements. It hasn't been a magic bullet that cured her overnight, but under Dr G's treatments we've seen her begin recovering instead of sinking further or just stagnating. As my wife says, we now have hope. Regressive Autism >From: eyesnelson@... > >My daughter, who is now 4 1/2 and regressed at age two after normal development, language, everything being perfect, is just starting with Dr. G. I'm curious if there are other parents in a similar situation and what kind of luck they've had. Dr. G is one of the first doctors to have offered me hope in her getting better, but I don't want to get my hopes up too high. I've talked to other parents but most of their children had a lot of medical problems. My daughter is healthy, she's just lost all of her language and social skills and has developed stereotypic autistic behaviors. Will she recover? Has anyone? > >>
Guest guest
My son was developing normally except for chronic ear infections until about age 18 mos. He then regressed slowly into an autistic state, and continued with the ear infections. We were not aware of Dr. G - we lived in Texas and just did research on our own. We removed dairy and egg from his diet, saw allergists, neurologists, occupational, speech, etc. therapists. We used sign language and drew pictures with him of what was happening and talked to him all the time. We put him on a high protein high carb diet, low sugar, and basically had to go back to where we lost him and teach him things he should already know. We also did vitamin supplements, acidophilus, B-Complex, and the essential fatty acids. He went through a long phase of echoing, and he still is quite emotional, but he is in a regular Kindergarten without an aid, has been tested to have an IQ of 141; his immunological testing is all in the normal range now; his one unusual test is an inverted chromosome 2 which we are waiting for a meeting with a genetics specialist to discuss the significance of that. Long (very long and painful) story short, there indeed is hope. Don't be afraid to doubt what seems to be 'strange' medicine, even if it is from a doctor - we went through many doctors to find the right mix of treatments for our son. If a medicine makes him sick, don't do it - no matter if they tell you that there is a period of adjustment. Use common sense. Parents are so desperate that they will spend tons of money and potentially hurt their child in trying things that may or may not work. Do your own research before you subject your child to alternative or conservative medicines. Praying helps too. If you would like, write back, I've been there and we are still recovering (even though he seems as normal now as most any child on the block!) Regressive Autism From: eyesnelson@... Guest guest
Amen to everything you have said. If your son gets hit with a strong virus that causes his immune system to start misfiring again are you going to try the immune modulators? Presuming that we have them available and we will because we are all working hard at raising money to make sure the clinical trials start ASAP RIGHT LISTMATES? I am super glad that you child is doing so well! Kathy R
Guest guest
Nizoral is an antifungal drug; it will kill Candida yeast infections. It is stronger than nystatin --so works better to erradicate well established candida colonies. Dr. Goldberg feels it is very safe for long term use (we have used it long term) , but insists you get regular blood tests to rule out liver damage (one serious, though rare, side effect). Guest guest
WOW - how did you know that your daughter's problem was the yeast. Was it from the blood tests?

Guest guest
My daughter also developed normally for almost two years and suddenly stopped talking. After three years of knowing in my gut that her problem was this " candidas induced autism " , my family bit the bullet and flew to California from the bowels of Louisiana to see Dr. Goldberg. While my daughter is not yet a " normal " seven year old, after the first quarter tablet of Nizoral, she was toilet trained, after a month, the school called and said my daughter did not have autism and that by the end of the year they would be calling her normal, she is sleeping through the night, she has gone from kindergarten reading to the accelerated reading program, and today, she asked to play football with her brothers and then she played catch with them and I took her the grocery store, let her push the cart and no one stared at her. I have a bright eyed, generally happy daughter who is reacquiring language and makes me " cry for happy " (from an old movie- " Flower Drum Song " ) every day. Guest guest
I am curious what you mean about refusing to give them. I don't know what your job is, but do they really let you refuse to give the shots? > > Our hospital is now using preservative free Hep-B vaccine (although I still > refuse to give them) and we wait until the morning of discharge, usually > around 36-48 hours for vaginal delivery babies. >

Less and less of our doctors are ordering the shots in the hospital. My son's pediatrician is one in a major group here. I think only one doctor in that group orders it any more. Although there are still a few others in other peds. groups that do. My co-workers know I won't give them. And I have discussed my concerns with our Nurse Manager. While she doesn't agree with me, she respects my opinion. Someone else may have to give them, but it won't be me! (And more and more of my coworkers are seeing my point of view, especially with it becoming more talked about in the news, etc. We had a local TV station do a series last week on MMR and autism. It looked quite favorable, the pieces I saw anyway, for the vaccine connection. Maybe someday, all my co-workers will rebel against giving them!)
