Guest guest
Hello! I'm no math wizzard, but upon re-reading the excerpts from the FEAT post of the congressional hearings where Rene Russo testified, it seems our children are coming up way short on funding compared to other disorders. It said that of the approximately 500,000 children we know of that have autism, the federal funding for autism research is approximately $5 million dollars. THAT IS ONLY $10.00 PER CHILD! I would venture to say that there are more than 500,000 children with Autism specturm disorders, which would further bring down the funding per child to probably $5.00 or $1.00 per child!! I don't know about you, but my child is worth more than 10 bucks in research for the cause, treatments, and cure, of Autism! We need you to send in your child's picture for the Open Your Eyes to Autism project and for you to make a quilt square on your child's behalf for the first ever Autism Awareness Quilt. We need you to be a part of the Rally for National Autism Awareness in Washington, D.C., April 8, 2000. We realize that because of the very nature of Autism and how it affects a child, that most children will not be able to attend such an event, and that most children are non-verbal in some respect. That is one of the reasons why Unlocking Autism has created the project " Open Your Eyes to Autism " , so that collectively, these thousands of pictures of children with Autism can speak volumes on behalf of national autism awareness. If we want our children to be worth more than $10.00 of research, then we have to create the national autism awareness to prove the need for it! Please contact me for detailed flyers on how you can be a part! Guppy - tguppy@...
