I would appreciate getting this information too. I have osteopenia and I want

to prevent any furthur progression. I watched my mother go through 2 hip

surgeries (one unsuccessful) - she is now in a wheelchair.

I get very little exercise since I've been ill with CFIDS.

AEP calcium, cfids & severe osteoporosis

Hi Cfidsers,

I understand that some of you with severe osteoporosis are taking AEP

calcium and since I am not at fracture stage with my bones I am thinking

of trying it myself. How does it equate to regular calcium? Do you still

take 1000 mgs of the AEP? Any side effects? Does it matter that it

doesn't include the vit. D & other things in standard bone calcium like

caltrate? Is all AEP calcium made by the same company or is there a

particular brand that is best? I can't keep up with the list so if

anyone has a response please e-mail me directly at moomin@....

Thanks so much! Best, Beth

Hi I did make a search on that, too but there are not much articles on usage of

Ca 2 aep for osteoporosis.Just couple of articles of Hans Neiper's which only

mentions that bone densities of MS patients were improved when they used ca 2

aep and ca orotate together. No mention of dosages, etc.

I used it for a while but now stopped it. I decided not to use any supplements

which do not have sufficient test data. Ca 2 Aep is in some way helping the

nerves and I am not sure if repair we need with our nerves is the same as what

MS people need. My brain chemistry is already upset and I did not want to take

any risks.

Best regards.

Yes,

That could be the problem. I have osteopenie since I was quite young(but sick

with CFs). Doctors were surprised with it.Nil

Re: AEP calcium, cfids & severe osteoporosis

De Meirleir et. al did a recent paper suggesting that

ostteopenia in CFS could be due a calcium

channelopathy caused by Rnase L degradation or by

mycoplasma infections or by ????? cant remember the

Osteoporosis can theoretically affect just about anyone. I know a

woman in herearly 50s, who had been exercising regularly and eating

healthy (due to being a cancer survivor), and she recently discovered

she has significant osteoporosis.

There are many many different reasons that a person can get

osteporosis, some of which aren't known too well (i.e. lack of Vitamin

K, and low levels of testosterone in men).

If you have any factors that you think my predispose you to

osteoporosis (i.e. runs in the family, or lack of exercise), I would

would definitely ask your doctor about getting frequent bone density test.
