Guest guest
Thanks very much Rich for your prompt answer.I was really quite upset at this point and your note was of great support to me.Right now I started having another problem.I was having some pains at my gall bladder area since the beginning of this year. Than it went away after |I received some thermal bath water drinking therapy. It came back since 2 days and right now I am having severe pain on that area again. These all come from long term constipation and indigestion problems. I am sure my stomach acid is low and I was also planning to take your test(I don't know when because I also started having some important female problems today.). The thing that confuses me is seeing those nut crunches in my stool. If it was only the problem of digestive enzymes than,I am thinking that I would not see the nuts as pieces but I could see oily and/or pale colored stools(sorry). I am thinking that this could be due to malfunctioning of my nervous system. I don't know which system handles the digestive system muscles but I thought this was something related to the movements of stomach. Stomach should make continuos contractions to divide the pieces into smaller parts so that they can be processed by the enzymes and moved into intestines.Isn't that true? Please correct me if my reasoning is wrong.Another reason I think this is the way I have my constipation. Again sorry for the subject but my constipation for the last six or seven months was also something different. It was as if I my intestinal muscles were so weak that they were not being able to push the material.I was having no will to empty my intestines for a week or so. Feeling no pressure, nothing. It was really strange. When I was able to make some relaxing, meditation type of work than some movement was starting at my bowels. That also makes me think that this is brain related.Nothing helped with my constipation. Meds, fruits, etc.I even tried castor oil.I was not being able to throw the material out of my body no matter how I tried. When I put these data together I am concluding that my muscles in my digestive system are too weak to do their job or they are not being able to get the necessary nerve impulses to generate the required muscle movements from nervous system.Which nervous system is responsible for the muscle contractions of stomach and intestines? Or are there any hormones required in the process? What do you think?very sorry for the subject but we are all like doctors.Aren't we? Thanks Nil Thanks very much. Nil Re: indigestion problems Hi, Nil. It sounds as though your digestive system is not functioning very well. I would guess that the problems that I discussed in message #69882 may apply to your case. I suggest trying the baking soda test that I described there first, to see what your stomach acid situation is. If you have very low stomach acid, your pancreas and liver will not be stimulated to secrete digestive enzymes and bile, respectively, when the food enters the duodenum. The acid is what gives the signal. If these are not secreted, the food will not be digested, and your body will not be able to absorb the nutrients it needs from them. Rich > Hi all, > I had some indigestion problems of fats, proteins and extreme constipation for the last 7 or 8 months and i am struggling with them. Lately I noticed something different. I eat hazel nuts from time to time and I noticed that hazel nuts are all in my stool as I have crunched them in my mouth. Not digested at all. Does anybody have any idea on what that means? > > Thanks.. > > Nil > > >
Guest guest
Hi Rich, Sorry I forgot to tell you. I had started using 2 capsules per day of betaine hcl 2 days ago. Thanks for saying that HCL initiates pancreatic enzymes and bile. Did not know that. About baking soda Is it sodium bicarbonate?I have sodium bicarbonate at home in crystal form.It is not like finely powdered baking soda. I wonder if I can use it. Also our tea spoons are much smaller than yours and I have trouble to determine how much 1/4 teaspoon is. Could you tell me how many 0 size capsules will be filled by 1/4 teaspoon approximately. Thanks.. Nil Re: indigestion problems Hi, Nil. It sounds as though your digestive system is not functioning very well. Guest guest
Rich, thanks for the valuable info you have given I learned a lot. Thanks for the explanation of the gastrointestinal tests, too.I am now familiar with them.No I don't use any opoids. Actually I had found some way to control my constipation for the last couple of weeks. That was good quality honey and warm water solution. This was helping to some extend but of course long term constipation problems had caused me probably malfunctioning liver and thus effected my gall bladder. Thanks great sites..I will try flush. and Gayu, Thanks for reminding that. I will get one and keep it ready in case I need it. Thanks to all who have given their minds to my problem. Will inform you of the any changes.. Nil Re: indigestion problems Hi, Nil, I'm very sorry about what you're going through. I have no problem talking about the gut and all its wonderful functions. Remember, I had rectal cancer, and I had lots of adventures in that department over a long time period! I wish I could tell you what is causing your current pain, but I can't. The gall bladder does sound like a possibility if it is in that area. I understand your reluctance to go to the hospital, but it would probably be a good idea to at least have a doctor diagnose what is causing this pain if it doesn't go away soon. Concerning the stomach, yes, it normally grinds food particles down until they are less than 2 millimeters in size, before letting them pass into the duodenum. If it is unable to grind a particularly hard particle to be smaller than this, it retains it until about 2 hours after the meal, and then lets it go on into the duodenum. Concerning the control of the digestive system, it is partly controlled by its own self-contained enteric nervous system, and partly by the autonomic nervous system from the brain stem. The parasympathetic arm of the autonomic nervous system operates on the digestive system via the vagus nerve. The sympathetic arm operates on the digestive system via nerves from the spine. There is also some hormonal interaction between the brain and the digestive system, and some immune system interaction via the mast cells. It's hard to say what is causing your motility problems. I don't know whether you take any opioid drugs. They will slow the motility of the gut. Low thyroid will also do it. I think it would be best if you could see a gastroenterologist. In the U.S., they will usually first try to determine if there is a structural problem, that is a mechanical obstruction of your gut, such as due to cancer or some other blockage, using things like barium enema or colonoscopy. If this is O.K., then they will have you drink a dye that shows up on X-ray and see how fast it moves through the digestive system by taking sequential X rays. If that comes out normal, they will diagnose functional bowel disease. If it is slow, they will explore further to find out why. One test they might run is a balloon expulsion test, in which they insert a catheter into the rectum, fill it with water, and ask you to expel it to see if you can. This sounds like a lot to go through, but it really is important to get your digestive system moving again, so I hope you will go and get checked out if it doesn't improve soon. Guest guest
Nil, Consyipation can be caused by hypothyroidism, low magnesium, low fibre diet, dehydration, PD, lead poisoning, parasites (e.g. entamoeba histolytica, protozoa, etc.), low B5, low potassium.
