The IgM is then the one that is likely to show up (as in my case for instance). So he agreed he needed to update the IGeneX website and change the part where it says the patient might get IgG done first to see if they have ever been pos and then if pos, get IgM performed--that is only applicable for newly infected patients (perhaps a few weeks from onset of infection). So if you have been sick a long time and are really poor then just get IGeneX IgM done. I forget the price of one WB but I think it is under $100, so I think this is essential testing for any CFSer to try to rule out lyme as a contributing agent to their CFS. Then I asked him about follow up testing and he agreed IgM could be done in the future to monitor progress and that if one has killed off lyme for instance it should be neg after 2 months. Print this out if you wish and your doctor can read it. PJ suggests: I have probably had Lyme since 1972, certainly since 1995 and have been on antibiotics for years. I still had a very positive IgG western blot at IgeneX. I'm not disagreeing with what you wrote, just adding that you can be sick a long time with borrelia. Also, Medicare covers the bill at IgeneX. The only difficulty is getting the test kit and finding a lab that will draw the blood for you. If your doctor's office still does this you are in luck. Quest charges $20 IF you get the kit for free from IgeneX. a Carnes
