I was similar. In fact, it was years (with CFS) before I ever felt what people

call exertion fatigue. For those early years I just felt like crap, like I had

the flu all the time, like I was toxic, my brain didn't work, etc. but I didn't

have exertion fatigue. I believe most of my problems are infection related.

I did eventually get the exertion fatigue, but it has been significantly

improved in the last month since I have been on T3 thyroid.

Hello Doris

I am hypothyroid (diagnosed 5 years ago) and I now believe, though undiagnosed,

that I also suffered fibromyalgia. For all the time I was treated with T4

alone, I felt awful - never one day when I felt better and I was in SO much pain

I cannot describe it or how this affected my life. I thought that all this pain

was either a slipped disc - arthritis, etc., and just took Ibuprofen when it was

really unbearable. Just one of those things that I had to learn to live with.

Then I started on natural desiccated thyroid hormone extract (Armour Thyroid)

which contains T4/T3/T2/T1 and Calcitonin. I quickly began feeling better, but

it was only recently that I realized that I have absolutely NO pain whatsoever -

I do not even have the slightest ache. I am just leaping around. Each day

though, when I get up, I say to my husband " just look at me - I feel great, I

cannot believe I have no pain!! " . It is only recently that I have come to

believe that this relief can only have come through taking Armour Thyroid. I

have been a year on this medication but I don't think the exertion fatigue or

the severe pain really went away 100% until I increased my medication to 2

grains about 4 months ago.

I had never realised the significance of T3 in getting rid of pain and exertion

fatigue before - or is it also the addition of T2, T1 and calcitonin?

Hi Sheila

I don't really know. I know that people have reported doing much better on

armour thyroid which has T3 and T4. I think most people have a hard time

getting T3/T4 or T3 from their doctors. It is possible it could help a lot more

people but their doctors prescribe T4 if anything at all.
