Guest guest
Hi, Donna, I am hoping that you are not facing a review of your disability, but perhaps only of your financial qualifications. You did not menion if you were on SSD or SSI. For the latter, they used to just review my finances. Freaked me the first couple of times. It was all quite routine. Hope whatever it is, yours will be routine, too. Sorry I do not have the info you were seeking. Adrienne Gomez disability group Hi folks, I haven't posted much for a very long time as my health has been in a downward spiral, but I have recently received a notice of disability review by Social Security Administration, and have been trying to find the disability group that was formed to discuss disability concerns. I think it was/is called disinissuances-l, or something to that effect. Does anyone know if it still exists (couldn't find it on 's group home page), or if there is another such group that I can subscribe to? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Donna in NC
Guest guest
Hi Adrienne, Thank you and everyone else who has answered my plea for help. I did find the group, and hope it will help get me through this process without me self-destructing in the process! (I don't deal with stress well these days! LOL). Unfortunately it is SSD, and my primary doctor has been Dr. Cheney throughout the entire period of time they are reviewing. I hate for them to be bothering him while he is trying to recover, but nearly all of my medical records are with him. I'm worried that without his ability to hone in on what is precisely needed, it will just be a long struggle. I hope I'm wrong. I also hope my current LLMD is very good with the SSD folks. Guest guest
Hi Donna, I can't remember if I already wrote to you about this. If so, forgive my fog. I am going to be forced by my employer's disability insurance to apply for SSD. Is it possible to have Dr Cheney write a letter in support of disability? How are you in touch with him. I have no idea how I am going to cope with this as organization and cognitive problems are very severe with me. I was a University Prof. for 26 years and I now can't write a simple sentence. If you would prefer not to divulge your arrangement with Dr Cheney, I understand. He has been your Doc for so long. I've thought I would write to him at the PO box, Wishing you Happy Holidays, on 12-16-03 9:55 PM, Donna Pruitt at donnap@... wrote: Hi Adrienne, Thank you and everyone else who has answered my plea for help. Guest guest
Hi , I'm so terribly sorry to have not answered you sooner, but we went to NY for the holidays, and I have been terribly ill. I think my slide began with finally getting the letter from Dr. Cheney's office, and a whole series of emotional stressors followed after that, on top of pushing the abx a bit too hard for the amount of stress I was undergoing emotionally. I will call you sometime. It has been very hard losing Dr. Cheney, although I prayed for him to live above all, even if it meant not seeing patients anymore. I think we will grieve the loss of his presence in ours lives for a long time, as he seemed to have such a way about him. I don't have any arrangement with him, so don't know what to offer you in advice, although I imagine you have done something by now. did you ever contact him? I have been debating this very thing myself. He did write my original letter, and it was excellent. I'm not sure if it is fair or proper to ask him to write a letter in his current state, yet he was my treating physician for the period they are asking for, at least until the official notices went out. I am seeing Dr. Sharp in Fort Worth now, but have no idea how well he does disability. He does have a bike, which I didn't know when I saw him in November, and it may be worth another flight back there just to do one again. When I saw Dr. Cheney last November, he said I was too ill to do the bike. Still am, but...anyway, since Dr. Cheney is listed as a treating doc, I figured I would write the address they gave, and tell him that soc Sec will probably be requesting records. That much holly can handle, and I don't want him surprised when he is contacted. But I haven't decided whether to ask him to write a letter, or whether he'd even consider doing it. I feel tacky asking him to be honest with you, but he's the only one who really knows. What did you decide to do, or are you still wavering like me? If you did write him, what was his reply? Again, I'm so sorry for not answering sooner. My mind is as muddled as yours. This is the first I've even felt competent enough to answer the very many e-mails I have to answer yet. I know how you feel - I used to be a CPA, crunched numbers and wrote reports and drafted financial statements and now I'm mush for brains. It's one of the reasons I no longer post. Rarely read because I can't understand, but I keep plugging along. I do hope your holidays were happy ones, Donna Re: disability group > > > > Hi, Donna, > > I am hoping that you are not facing a review of your disability, but perhaps > only of your financial qualifications. > > You did not menion if you were on SSD or SSI. Guest guest
Hi Donna. I read of your plight with Dr. Cheney and disability and just wanted to offer a suggestion. Perhaps you could ask Dr. Cheney's assistant if it would be OK to ask him about a letter or if she might be able to write one with his assistance. I think that they would understand that you need a source of income and would try to accomodate you. I'm sure that there will be many others in your position and that some sort of arrangement will have to be made. Good Luck. Tom
