Guest guest
I wanted to report my experiences thus far with cortef, after ~ 6 weeks trial. I have had repeated (3 times) trouble increasing my dose above 10mg/day (cortef and specially compounded hydrocortisone). When I go above 10mg/day, the first day I feel better than usual, the second day I feel so-so, but by the third day I feel quite ill, muscle aches, malaise, etc.. Clearly, I am heading down hill. I do not know why I have this reaction. Immune suppression is a knee jerk answer in my opinion, which I am not confident is correct. I have had two 24 hour urine tests + the Cheney bike test, which showed me near ian in cortisone output (I would note I have had an ATCH stimulation test that was within the normal range. I think that test should be viewed with suspicion in CFS cases. I believe it may show within the normal range, when you are really deficient). I have not done the Every Third Day protocol due to difficulties with licorice extract. My response to increasing cortef above 10mg has shown consistency to me, with the same response after three repeated attempts. I do not know what this means, or how to proceed. I only report it for informational purposes. I should add, Cheney was reluctant to write me a script for low dose hydrocortisone. He said, " I have had several patients crash trying to do this " Perhaps, this " crash phenomina " is the wall I am encountering now? I don't know?
