Guest guest
I don't have the book with me, I can take a look at it and see what it says about specific requirements. Attending skills are also very important as I recall >>> lois noland <jlois@...> 04/28/99 02:01PM >>> From: lois noland <jlois@...> dawn, JJ is 11 years old and can say single words and small sentences. Guest guest
I have the book (and the accompanying workbook) and have used it as a resource. It has a lot of very helpful, " cookbook " lesson plans on many different areas of language development. I think the most important thing is to use it as a resource (which was how it was recommended to me by a speech therapist friend) and especially to *not* use the lessons in the order they're presented in the book, but rather find things you're working with on your child (like verbs) and see how they approach it. The lessons in the book go from those appropriate for children with minimal language to children who are reading and writing pretty fluently. You just have to pick and choose. A book along the same long that I really like that also has excellent speech therapy lesson plans in it is " Behavioral Intervention for Young Children with Autism. " Those lesson plans are directed more at the younger or less verbal child. --Kathleen-- >From: Lizanj@... > >In a message dated 4/28/99 7:24:18 PM GMT Daylight Time, DawnM@... >writes: > >> Attending skills are also very important as I recall >> > >..I also HAD the book...bought it in a rush of premature >enthusiasm(!)..really the criteria for using the programs are that your child >needs to be 'table-ready'...and already have a communication system >established.
