Hi Everyone : ) Today I stepped on a dirty industrial staple and I will have

to have a tetnus shot within the next 72 hours. Has anyone on this list

gotten a tetnus shot while ill with cfids (or does anyone trace *getting* cfids

to

getting a shot)?

Is there anything that one could do to possibly reduce side effects from

the shot, either before taking the shot or after? If you had problems from

the tetnus shot, what were they and what did you do about them?

I've been pretty concerned about vaccines with cfids as well. A few

years back (I did have cfids) I had to have one for school. My side

effects were a swollen arm and feeling feverish for about a week. Not

a bad tradeoff, considering that tetnus is fatal...

I had a tetanus, rubella and a series of Hep B shots during the time

I had CFS 11 years ago (I wasn't diagnosed with CFS at the time) and

I can't say for sure whether it made me worse.

Last year during my physical my doctor said it would not be a good

idea to renew any shots at this time.

thanks to everyone who replied to my question about getting a tetnus shot

when you have cfids. I emailed my doctor and he recommended my NOT getting the

shot because of the state of my immune system. So, I am just trying to eat

especially well and take it easy to bolster my immune system naturally.

Some tetanus shots have thiomersal which contains mercury....
