Guest guest
Hi and Joyce, I don't post often to the group but I would like to comment on this issue. I have had cfs for 4.5 yrs and was completely bedridden the first two. I now work 25-30 hours wkly and am doing much better. Maybe sometime I can post my entire story when I have the time. But I lost 50 lbs going from an athletic 195 at 6 feet 3 inches to 140. I had a sebaccous cyst that was misdiagnosed as a lipoma for years (a focal infection). It apparently was comprimising my immune system with a low grade infection in it. After its removal I immediately noticed positive changes in my body. I also had chronic tonsillitus (spelling?) and had them removed at the first of this year. I have gained 35 lbs since the cysts removal on a virtually no-carb diet. With cfs symptoms present and weight loss there is something major wrong in the gut and possibly elsewhere. (A whey note: Prior to the cysts removal I could not take even 1/4 teaspoon of immunepro without it putting me in the bed for days with flu-like symptoms. I tried many times for years to take the wheys but could not due to this severe detox reaction. I can now take 10-15 scoops with little detox at all. Immunecal has helped me the most but I am taking all three kinds now.) I mistakenly took abx for two yrs thinking I had a myco infection. I am now battling a vicious three strain fungal infection in my gut and severe constipation. To top that I think I have BIOS (bacterial intestinal overgrowth). I had a endoscopy done last wk to check for this. I think the abx/probiotics I took for 2 yrs had something to do with this--both the fungal infections and the suspected BIOS. BEWARE!! Throughout my illness I was literally starving all the time despite overeating. I still feel this way--hungry (not nearly as bad now) unless I take i.v. nutrients. If I take an iv I am not hungry that day or the next and have much more energy. I am sure the constant hunger is my bodies cells crying out for nutrients that they are not getting through digestion. My GI tract is slowly healing--thus the weight gain. But I still can't eat carbs and have many food sensitivities. The carbs or sugar make my joints swell and make me feel ill. Fungal infections can be hideous. Fungal cells are similar to your bodies own cells and the immune system can have problems recognizing them resulting in immune chaos. CFS has many causes and many subgroups. What works for one can harm another. Educate yourself and learn to listen to your body. Keep a journal and try to correlate symtoms with possible causes. Stay positive and focused. Take care, the other --K
