Hi Rich Thanks for your detailed answer. Its strange but I just know that it was the mercury that gradually gave me so bad ill health. Looking back it was about 30 years ago when I first started to get health problems like very severe hay fever, nickel allergy and began picking up every virus going and not being able to throw it off. Gradually over the years my health got worse and worse even though I exercised very regularly. I agree my diet in the early years wasn't good, I was a carb and sugar addict and no way did I eat enough protein until a few years ago. However I didn't really gain any weight until about 10 years ago when I went up to about 140 lbs. At my sickest in 2000 I put on 17 lbs in a few months but glad to say I am now back to around 143 lbs. I also suffered a lot of stress as a child because I had a father who was quite cruel. Undoubtedly I feel this over-sensitised my nervous system but my problems didn't really start until I was into my 20s. I had had quite a lot of amalgams placed during my late teens and continued to get quite a lot more of them over the years. I had to have a total of 13 teeth redone to get rid of all the amalgams. Is it possible that stress on its own can cause depletion of glutathione? I would have thought it needed something more (like a heavy metal poisoning) to really get one into trouble. My endocrine system is doing much better and I seem to have found the ideal combination for me at the moment of 1 grain Armour and 5 mg hydrocortisone breakfast and the same amount with lunch. I still have a tendancy for my bp to drop quite low, say 105/40 at times but this coincides with the blood sugar drops I still get. However the h/c seems to stop the effects of this drop in my brain, namely I don't feel so dizzy or unwell and quickly recover when I eat a snack of protein plus a little carb. Often after a short rest the bp will rise back to a normal level. I have also found that I do well on Alpha Lipoic Acid 30 mg every 3 hours for say 5 days at a time as a chelator of the mercury but I make sure I have as many days off in case there are undesirable side effects for my body (as reported by Andy Cutler). However I don't take the nightime dose he recommends and don't find that this causes me any problems. When I took 50 mg every 3 hours I did feel terrible so am going to be patient and stick with the lower dose. I notice that Dr Lester Packer who did many research studies using ALA states the half life is 8 hours whereas Andy insists its only 4 hours. I am very hopeful of almost a full recovery but I am accomplishing so much more than I could ever have believed last year. My son and his partner moved house on Friday so I looked after my 17 month old grandson every day since Wednesday with his staying overnight Friday. Although I did feel tired I was ok and could keep going as long as I had some rests inbetween. I was still able to go out and see friends and do normal household chores. No way could I have done anything like that pre removal of the amalgams. By the way I no longer suffer fatigue at all it went about 6 weeks after the last removal (before I started the Armour and h/c). My remaining problems are the drops in blood sugar and problems in my thigh muscles when walking for more than 20 minutes at a time. However recovery now happens in minutes so you can imagine I am really thrilled. I just hope that many other people can also benefit in the way I have but I do realise we need help especially with the endocrine problem. So many doctors won't try treatments because of normal blood tests. All of my endocrine blood tests are normal by the way though the T4 was on the low side. My DHEA is always high for some reason I can't work out. Best Wishes Pam
Guest guest
Hi Pam, Your DHEA may be high because your adrenals still aren't supplying sufficient cortisol--even with your hydrocortisone supplement. DHEA is a precursor to cortisol and your body will automatically increase the supply of DHEA when cortisol levels drop. Have you had a recent ASI test? - don > > Pam, > > > > I can see how mercury toxicity could deplete glutathione and > > therefore suppress the immune system. Guest guest
Hi Can you clarify? You said you do the ALA 30mg every 3 hours for 5 days, but later that you don't take the nighttime dose. So are you saying that you go every 3 hours during the day, but don't wake up every 3 hours during the nights? Thanks, Doris ----- Original Message ----- From: doggy532001 <pam.clewley@...> I have also found that I do well on Alpha Lipoic Acid 30 mg every 3 hours for say 5 days at a time as a chelator of the mercury but I make sure I have as many days off in case there are undesirable side effects for my body (as reported by Andy Cutler). On this regime I have felt really good with no side effects and could easily carry it on indefinitely. However I am concerned about the side effects of chelating without a break so won't risk it (rise in copper etc). Will stick to a maximum of 5 days on 5 days off. Have you had a recent > ASI test? > > - don Hi Don Before I started any treatment for my thyroid and adrenals I had a 24 hour Saliva Stress Test done through a reputable lab here in the UK. My results showed a perfectly normal Circadian rhythm starting off medium in the ref range to lowish levels at 12 noon, medium at 4 pm and medium at midnight. It didn't indicate anything could be abnormal except the DHEA which was as follows - 8 am 22.1 ref range 4-29 12 noon 14.3 ref range 2.5-13 4 pm 12.6 ref range 2-6 (more than double) midnight 6.5 ref range 1-4 It just goes to show one shouldn't just stick to lab results especially with mercury poisoning. Whose to say it gets into the cells where its needed? I understand mercury can be sitting in the receptor sites where the hormones are needed. Guest guest
Pam, as per your concern about chelating constantly, I take 50 mg Nature's Way ALA morning and night and only take Sunday off--6 days a week--and I have only gotten better and better.
