~JvR: Duane Grippen has recently become a member of one

of the ME/CFS lists because of the state of health of her

daughter. She ask herself now, if her daughter could suffer

from ME/CFS.

Perhaps someone can help her somehow: a physician, who

can give some advice, or someone who knows a good

address in the neighbourhood, or something like that?

Please be so kind to send your replies directly to Duane

Grippen; here email-address is: duane10@...

It sounds like my 17- yr. old daughter has M.E.

Briefly, she was bedridden 4 months last yr.(mid-February to

late June) with a " balance " disorder accompanied by nausea

and migraines. She could not walk without falling. We saw

many specialists in Syracuse, NY and Columbia Presbyterian

Hospital in NYC. She had all kinds of blood work, MRI's and a

spinal tap. Nothing was ever found. The doctor's gave a

diagnosis of " viral Encephalitis " . She slowly began to recover

on her own. By August she was beginning to play some tennis

but was not completely up to par. She continued to show

improvement returning to school in Sept.

Mid-to late Sept. she began to have pain in her knees. This

pain continued to spread throughout her joints and muscles

until she was in unbearable pain in most of her body by mid-to

late Oct. This continued along with an increased frequency in

her migraines. About a week and a half ago, she began to

have fainting spells. There has been some improvement in

the sharp shooting pains but she continues to feel achy and

have fainting spells and generally feels lousy.

We are awaiting the results of heart monitor which she wore

for 24hrs. We can't send her to school if she faints every day.

Fortunately, we have excellent medical insurance and referrals

aren't needed. The problem is that the US healthcare system

takes so long to access and then doesn't seem to have many

answers.

We would appreciate any and all advice.

Thank you in advance.
