Guest guest
We saw our osteopath today and I talked to him about the digestive enzymes in particular the possibility of using them to come off the gfcf diet. His response was - I thought - quite interesting so I'm posting it to see what others think. He said that as far as he could tell ' gut had not yet healed and was still irritated and inflamed. He based this on what he could feel in a physical exam, plus the fact that is still reacting to a lot of foods, and also refusing foods (his latest line is " I don't like that, it will make me sick " ). He felt that adding in wheat - even with the enzymes - would cause further irritation and delay the healing of the gut. But using the enzymes while keeping diet fairly simple would accelerate the process of healing the gut and eventually allow us to add back gluten and dairy without adverse affects. So if you have gut damage/leaky gut, using the enzymes to come off the diet may be helping short term but possibly not long term. Using them to help heal the gut may be the best strategy. What do you think? Thanks Caroline
