Guest guest
I wonder if those who have below normal levels of growth hormone and take growth hormone to bring them up to normal, is that dangerous? I get the sense any increase in GH raises the cancer danger, but only up to the normal level of danger. Jim

Guest guest
Judith, Do you (or anyone) know if their absence of concern would include those who have already had cancer? Guest guest
I am no expert on this, but I have heard from some reliable sources that many professional body builders take this stuff like you wouldn't believe. The usual adult dosage, if memory is correct, is between 4 and 7 I.U.s/ week for physiological replacement. Many atheletes take 12-15 I.U.s during intense training without apparent consequence. I have heard of doses of up to 80 I.U.s/week in professional bodybuilders. That's an incredible amount, and they are still alive to tell about it. In fairness though, they take it based on lean body mass, and a 275lb bodybuilder can have an incredible amount of that to maintain. The point being there is a lot of HGH useage going on out there in very high doses, and people are not dropping like flies. To my knowledge, HGH is the only known substance to actually cause new muscle fibers to be created in adults. This is a partial explaination for the growth of many bodybuilders guts. It causes their guts and livers to grow. Ronnie (an unbelieveable human specimen) looked like he was in his 3rd trimester at the 2001 Mr. Olympia and about to give birth to a 50 pound catepillar (!), despite being extremely low in body fat. Clearly, he had been on a lot of HGH. He won the competition, by the way, by keeping it sucked up most of the time. Ironically, HGH is regarded as a rather weak stirated muscle builder. Testosterone analoges are still best for that. If my understanding is correct, HGH is considered as an adjuctive substance, like injecting insulin after a workout and eating sugar (yes, bodybuilders do that too), or vitamins. But, if it can cause the grow of new fibers, and such hypertrophy of smooth muscle and liver, I cannot help but wonder if it might not be useful to treat people with gut and liver problems too, as in CFS? The stuff is not candy. But, it may not be as dangerous as some would believe, either. ly, I always suspect doctors of nefarious motives when they bad mouth HGH out of hand. Guest guest
I have yet to see any thing that proves that gh causes cancer to grow. It is all conjecture, from what I have read. If you read " Grow Young With Hgh " you will find this discussed thoroughly. One camp says it might. The other says that gh so restores the whole body, immune system included, that it is more likely to help the body fight cancer than to increase the risk of some unknown cancer growing and becoming known. Once again tho, this is why I prefer pure colostrum. It has so many immune factors that it is a more balanced product and increases muscle mass while massively restoring the nervous system and immune system and bowel. love, love, love the stuff. Guest guest
Judith, I read that the people in the study did injections 3x a week. Some of the anti-aging doc's have countered that it's safer to inject every day with a low-dose. I am concerned that it may be the rollercoaster up and down GH levels resulting from 1x a week or 3x a week dosing that may have caused the increased illness in the study participants. Guest guest
I thought the half-life of GH was only 30 minutes. Guest guest
hi Steve and Donna - > The every other day or everyother week or every six months things never made sense to me. The body releases growth hormone every day. So why not mimic the bodies own release. in the case of PWC's, GH every day makes people crash very badly, even at tiny doses. And the GH effects don't wear off after a day, it can take a couple days to a week to return to your baseline. Maybe not an ideal set-up but the best that docs who treat PWCs have come up with so far, I don't think anyone has found a way to truly mimic the body's own release yet. Guest guest
Donna, I believe that if you dose every day you risk having your body begin to suppress it's own release of GH. This is what happend in the studies using hydrocortisone on CFS a few years ago. They halted one study where people were given rather high daily high doses because they're own bodies' release of cortisol was dropping and they're adrenal glands were shutting down.
