Guest guest
My hypothesis on brain fog is that it is the result of a lack of oxygen to the hippocampus of the brain. The hippocampus is that part of the brain whose function is to store and retrieve information from memory. The hippocampus uses a lot of energy, ATP, to perform this function. In order to generate that ATP the mitochondria in the hippocampus cells require a lot of oxygen. If the cells in the hippocampus do not have sufficient oxygen then they must rely upon glycolysis, an anaerobic process, to generate the neccessary ATP. A product of glycolysis is pyruvate which, not being able to be further processed by the aerobic processes in the mitochondria, is then converted to lactic acid. In the Cheney video, Dr. Cheney tells about researchers finding a concentration of lactic acid around the hippocampus. He also says " especially the right hippocampus " The lactic acid concentration suggests that the hippocampus is relying heavily upon glycolysis for energy production. The right hippocampus is of particular interest since most women (the gender predominately affected by FMS/CFIDS) tend to be right brained. Since oxygen diffuses from higher to lower areas of concentration then if blood carrying oxygen flowed past the cell there should be oxygen delivery. And, since research has shown sufficient oxygen in the blood (maybe a little on the low side) my guess is that blood flow through the capillaries is impeded and this is what is causing the hypoxic condition. An above normal quanitiy of blood is then shunted to arterials, bypassing flow throught the capillaries. Another possibility is that there is sufficient oxygen in the cells but there is some other impairment to the mitochondria which is interfering with the production of ATP. The good news is that when the hippocampus once again gets the oxygen it needs to create ATP then full memory function is restored. There is no permanent, irreversable, brain damage being done. At least that has been the experience of the few ladies that have reversed symptoms of FMS. Guest guest
Is this part Cheney's quote or yours? How did they get the needed oxygen to the hippocampus? Did these people reverse all symptoms of FMS? if so, how? Guest guest
That could explain why ozone therapy produces results, I mean, besides oxidation of toxins and of infectious organisms. One thing though, 2-time Nobel Laureate Otto Warburg showed that toxins can block normal oxygen absorption, and that may be a consideration regarding why the cells are hypo-oxygenated in the brain and resorting to glycolysis. << Since oxygen diffuses from higher to lower areas of concentration then if blood carrying oxygen flowed past the cell there should be oxygen delivery.
