Guest guest
Hi! A year has passed since I began working full time and thought I would do a summation for anyone that is interested. I also monitor and CFSHerbsNutri , so this message will be repeated three times. I am still working full time and have started to add more social activities to my life. I still have to take supplements, although not as regularly as before. I sometimes need a power nap at supper and still have problems with concentrating when I get tired, but the brain fog, where I couldn't concentrate at all, is gone. I also have problems with temperature control if I am immobile for a while. My sense of humor and general enjoyment of life is back. I also work on creative projects which I enjoy very much. In retrospect, I started developing chronic fatigue symptoms in 1990, was housebound in 1997, and since I didn't have a medical practitioner that was interested in CFS, decided to concentrate on supplements. I felt I was well enough to return to work in spring of 1999. At that time, I also found an alternative health practitioner who uses muscle testing in his holistic practice. From that time on, I no longer had to rely on a 'hit and miss' approach regarding supplements and could concentrate on rebuilding my health. To get out of the CFS rut, I used: Valerian and Melatonin - to re-regulate sleep pattern Magnesium and Malic Acid - to correct a magnesium deficiency Glutamine Powder - 1/4 tsp, again for a deficiency Anti-oxidants: Vitamin C with zinc - (averaging 4 grams a day, max 20 grams, max 50 mg zinc) Vitamin E with selenium (up to 1600 I.U.. a day, 50 mcg selenium) Bilberry - anti-oxidant, especially good for the eyes Halibut Liver Oil Salmon Oil (for EPA's, but no longer take it, due to concern about mercury contamination) General Health: Vitex Agnus Castus (Chastetree or Chasteberry Tincture) to reduce prolactins Digestive Enzymes (Bromelain) - for stiffness in legs Milk Thistle Tincture - for liver Hawthorn Tincture - for heart Astragalus Tincture - cancer prevention Methylcobalamin - B12 deficiency (no longer required - deficiency did not return) Bancha Twig Tea with soya salt - for adrenals Chinese Supplements (taken in the order listed, one after another over a period of 2 years) Bu Nao Wan - for edginess, restlessness, not to be taken for more than 3 months. Jian Pi Wan - for spleen Gui (Kwei) Pi Wan - for spleen and blood Bu Zhong Yi Qi Wan (new) - for kidneys, spleen, blood, overall energizer New Supplements Pascossan by Pascoe - an extensive tissue salt chewable tablet, taken sporadically by me Horse Chestnut Tincture - improve blood vessel strength (take faithfully - very effective) Foods I avoid, but haven't eliminated completely: wheat, beef, eggs no more than twice a week Foods I make sure I eat: blueberries, strawberries, fish, salmon, tomato sauces, salt with sesame seeds, butter Post CFS Supplement Routine: At present, I take the following every second day approx: Chasteberry Tonic, Vitamin C and zinc, Vitamin E and Selenium, Magnesium and Malic Acid, Horse Chestnut Tincture, Milk Thistle Tincture, Digestive Enzymes (lots every day), Halibut Liver Oil, Tissue Salts, Bu Zhong Yi Qi Wan (3 times a day), Bancha Twig tea (once a week) General Comment: I think we should call our symptoms, Toxic Overload Condition (TOC). In my case, when I reduced the free radicals (toxins) in my system, my health improved. I think we become overloaded with toxins (in my case pesticides, I think) and they break through the brain blood barrier and all hell breaks loose. I think the toxins can come from a variety of sources, but the path of destruction they follow in the body seems to follow a pattern and our differences are a result of the stage where we are at, rather than different subsets. I would like to thank everyone for sharing what works and what doesn't, I learnt a lot and am healthier for it. Best Wishes for 2002, Merle

Guest guest
Merle, thanks for the update. Let me ask a question. Did you ever lose weight from 1997 (bedbound) to the present? The reason I ask is that since toxins are stored more in fat, I have a (weak) theory that the less body fat one has, the better that one might feel. TIA.
