Blood in stools

My son has been eating the not-too ripe apples off my

mother's tree lately and they cause him to have

somewhat loose stools. Yesterday I changed him

and found some slight streaks of blood in the

b.m.

He has trouble with popcorn and the whole wheat breads

and crackers..so we avoid those. The popcorn causes

him to become giggly and very spacey and then diarreha.

A friend tells me that maybe it could be a yeast

problem with the corn. I'm sure he has a very

irritated bowel and plan to keep him away from the

apples. Any suggestions or opinions about the yeast?

>With all due respect, (I don't want to start a ruckus) but no one on

an email list is equipped to advise you to be unconcerned about blood

in your stools. Blood can be nothing but it can be something much

more serious.<

Hello,

I have not written on this board before, and I signed in to respond

to the email about not worrying about blood in ones stool.

In my humble opinion, blood in the stool is not something to be

dismissed quickly.

Your Dr can easily check for hemorrhoids in his/her office to see if

that is the source.

I had rectal bleeding and it turned out to be approx a 1cm polyp that

was easily removed.

My Father had rectal bleeding and it was Meckles Diverticulus which

required surgery to be removed, or he would have continued to bleed

and require transfusions.

A friends Mother had blood in her stools and it turned out to be CA.

Many times it *is* simply hemorrhoids, but blood in the stool

(accompainied with abdominal pain) would probably best be checked out

further.

Thanks,

Kam

+++Hi . Sorry about Marissa's message saying you shouldn't be

concerned. We can't know whether you should or shouldn't be concerned

since we have no idea how much blood you are talking about.

I suggest you see your doctor right away. Let us know what happens

after your visit.

The best, Bee

There can be many reasons for blood in the stool. Here is another. A

few yrs ago my hubby had intestinal bloating and pressure daily. After

all types of tests revealed nothing, his Dr. put him on a few wks of

Cipro Ab. Soon after he began passing blood daily in his stool.

Alarmed, he consulted Drs. again. He was sent for more tests. Nothing

found. Puzzled, I decided to read the prescription side effects info.

In small print and very obscure there it was. Blood in stool is a

side effect of Cipro! We didn't know blood in stool was a side effect

of Cipro and nor did Drs.! If we were told we could have been spared

much stress.

Blessings, nne
