Hi Everyone

My specialist states that research has shown 70-80% of

people with CFS have positive test results detecting

rickettsia. Treatment is with doxycycline for about 6

months. Anyone had success with this?

Regards

I have a rickettsial infection and was on doxycycline some years ago for

over a year without success. I suspect that it developed a resistance to it

because of taking it continuously. I've heard that you need to pulse the

doses, or cycle through taking different abx's. However, there is the

possibility that it didn't work for me because my spouse didn't take abx's

too. I probably just reinfected myself through him. Apparently his immune

system is resilient enough to keep it from becoming a problem but he remains

infected, and mine isn't resilient enough to control it. Now I've developed

an allergy to all the tetracycline's, so I haven't figured out what I could

use to treat it. However, I did have some improvement while on doxycycline,

but slowly lost it after the treatment stopped, and eventually developed FM

along with my CFS.

Hi Jan.

There is a newsgroup devoted to antibiotic treatment of CFIDS:

CFSFM_ANTIBIOTICS

It was started by Ken Lassensen who is also moderator of this group.

Ken feels that his CFIDS was put into remission in large part by

antibiotics. He also has a web page at:

http://lassesen.com/cfids/

I think it is still being put back together, but it had a lot of

information on rickettsia and antibiotic treatment.
