You didn't say when you went to sleep... that makes a big difference! But I'll

assume you mean sleeping a long time. This definitely happens to me now and

then, I will sleep 14 hours or so. Same amount of " sleeping " pills. I usually

feel that it when I am detoxing a lot and my body need time to rejuvenate.

does this happen very often

Do many folks sleep until 3 or 4 in the afternoon.. Maybe I took more

sleeping pills by accident. But this is the third time this has happened in

as many months.

Steve,

Due to totally reversed circadian rhythms, I sleep until 3, 4, or 5 p.m.

every day, and it is worse in the winter, when the days are shorter. Lately

I have been sleeping from about 7 or 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. every day. Every

year since I first got sick my sleep has shifted about an hour later. But

winters are always worse, and perhaps this is your problem?

are blessed is you sleep so much.sleeping is the best way to repair

yr immune system. (do you feel great when you wake up ? or not at all?

..anyway you should check your adrenals

Hi ,

You asked : Do many folks sleep until 3 or 4 in the

afternoon..

My reply: I can easily sleep in that long. During the

first 10 years or so of M.E. it was more common. My

natural rhythm is to be more alert at night and sleep

during the day. If I keep to a more " normal " sleep

pattern I do not function as well.

Sorry, apart from when I try to do something

physical or have yet another bug I don't know what

causes it to become more severe than at other times.

Annette,

During the first few years of my ME I suffered from the symptom

of excessive sleep and when I did wake did not feel refreshed. Later, as the

illness progressed, it switched to insomnia with the inability to fall

asleep unless assisted with either Trazodone, L-Tryptophan (no side

effects), or Melatonin, again without any side effects.

Now the cause of my ME has been established to be through a

chronic fungal infection, diagnosed through finding yeast metabolites in my

urine, the problem of sleep disturbances have been noted as being a strong

symptom of such an infection.

The intended cure for my fungal infection is basically to follow

a sugar and yeast free diet, and take the antifungal drug Fungilin. It's

frustrating, slow, but can be supported by using Melatonin to at least block

the distressing sleep problems that when treated, do help to reduce the

intensity of other symptoms.

I hope this information helps.

Regards,

Andy Porter
