Guest guest
Orthostatic problems, such as POTS or NMH, can cause problems with warm environments, not just moving to a vertical position. And of course with a warm shower, you've got both - a warm environment and a vertical position. A couple of years ago I told Cheney that my calves would often turn a mottled red or even purple during a shower. He said it's a sign of NMH, neurally mediated hypotension. An orthostatic intolerance problem. Brain not communicating correctly with the heart and blood vessels when faced with a change in position or a warm environment. Instead of doing things to keep the blood up in the head, it sends out the wrong signals regarding heart rate and blood vessel contraction, and the blood ends up pooling in our legs instead of staying up in our head. Thus you get purple legs and lightheaded. You might try Gookinade or the homemade sugarless Gookinade replacement recipe that was recently posted. It should increase blood volume, which can help this condition greatly. Take care. Carol
