Thanks very much for this reply. As my response to someone who

admonished me for without knowingly writing to you on list your decency

in your reply is salutory in extreme, and of course, though unintended, I

apologize for any smudging of your rep, due to that.

I now have to figure out when I'm gonna deal with all this virus stuff.

I've been deleting without opening all emails from names I don't

recognize (virtual anthrax???) on my other ISP (aol) but on juno I just

get list mail so open subject headers I'm interested in regardless of

author.

But , again, my apologies for my backchannel reaching the list against my

intentions and my admiration for the way you dealt with it.

I'm a sociologist by training and often instinct, and I do believe that

all of our individual behavior affects the fabric of society, a concept I

associate with Durkheim. I try to remember it myself and of course

notice it in others. That's why your response is so lovely.

Judith,

A quick comment to note that I received the computer virus

from

somebody on this list and ended up with an infected computer. This means

I

am not the source of the computer virus an did not knowing send out any

infected files and have certainly not sent out any form of music or any

other related or unrelated unsolicited messages. I have suffered form

whoever initiated this virus and have taken action to irradicate the

virus

using the information presented.

I apologise for any inconvenience caused but I can only

repeat

that I am not the source of the computer virus, but have suffered with

many

others in having to take action to remove infected files.

Please note that the file found by my virus scan was called

WORM

BADTRANS.B and consisted of two files. Both have now been removed and

repeated viral scans have proven that they are no longer on my computer.

Regards,

Andy Porter
