It is Anti-Viral.

kutapressin: what symptoms is it for

exactly?

I hear a lot about kutapressin but what *symptoms* does it help alleviate?

My doctor started me on Kutapressin last week after I inquired if he

thought it would be useful for me. He said it's very good for the herpes

family of viruses (I have high CMV titres) and it also shrank a lymphoma

in another patient.

Before he gave me the shot, As I usually do, I first read

the label on the vial and saw that it uses phenol as a preservative.

Now I'm very chemically sensitive and avoid phenol under other

circumstances. Should I let myself be injected with it? I did and I was

immediately sorry.

I also have a serious problem with hyper sensitive sound (I often walk

around with foam ear plugs in my ears and wearing a NoiseBuster [noise

cancelling device]) and I noticed immediately that the sound of the office

assistant's voice was going right through me; I could feel it inside my

body.

It was several days before I recovered from that shot. My doc gave me two

syringes to take home and to self-inject. I shall have to waste them;

there's just no way my body can deal with the phenol.

I very much regret having to forgo the benefits of the Kutapressin (it

also has nutritional benefits of non-bovine crude liver, as well as an

anti-viral).

I was wondering if it could be compounded without the phenol, using

another less toxic preservative, by one of the compounding pharmacies.

Altho I think it's some kind of patented product, only made by Schwarz

Pharma (no web site), I should inquire anyhow, just in case.

Carol,

Was it an IM injection and what was the dose? I'm in the same position as

you, in that Dr. Cheney has sent me a prescription for Kutapressin, and then

I saw your post about the kutapressin and your reaction. I too have problems

with phenol and phenolic compounds, and am now quite wary of doing this.

When I called his office today, he said that it was up to me to decide if I

wanted to try it, but that if I did, I should make sure it is a deep IM

injection, and just to take 1/10 of a cc. If I tolerate that, than he

suggested slowly raising it to try to see if I can get to the 2 cc dose. He

thought 1/10 cc would be enough to give a reaction, but not enough to have a

big reaction. Anyone have any thoughts on this? He has suggested the

Kutapressin because my RNaseL retest was still very elevated, and he is

concerned that it is unregulated at present, and he says that Kutapressin

acts as a mild Ampligen, which is the only thing known to help regulate

RNaseL. So he would very much like for me to be able to take it, as would I.

Is there anyone out there who has problems with phenol but has been able to

take Kutapressin?

Also, Carol, it looks like compounding it is impossible more or less for the

reasons you stated.

Hi There,

I only could tolerate up to .05 cc sub-cutanus not in

muscle..I do fine, and am phenol sensitive, but I can only guess at these

low doses every 4th day I can get the anti viral benefits and no side

affects to the phenol..we are all so different.

I also now take Transfer Factor 540 for EBV, and 560 for HHV6

Good luck..

I took Kutapressin for 6 years before taking the Transfer Factors. It saved

my life...

Donna,

The Kut injection was IM with 1 1/2 " needle, so it was deep. The dose was

2 cc which the doc said is a very small dose.

My doc

allergy tested me first (he always does with new things) with a sub-cut

drop on the inside of my arm. No allergic reaction (red raised bump)

after 20 minutes was reassuring. Also, even though there's no overt

allergic reaction, I also look at how I feel: am I suddenly very tired?

do I feel suddently anxious or some other unpleasant emotional reaction?

I frequently refuse something just on that basis.

But since there was no such reaction with the Kut, I took the shot.

Sorry I did, as I said. Oh, well, sometimes that's the only way to know

if something is for you.

Dear aab5321,

I too am chemically sensitive, and have that " sound goes right

through me sensation " .

I was wondering, maybe you are deficient in the enzyme Phenol-S-

Tranferase? It reduces phenolic compounds.

I do not know of a lab that test for this, but then again I have not

yet looked. Perhaps, someone else on the list will know more about

it.

Anyway, the PST enzyme is bound up with salicylates and allergies.

This was on a web site (darn I can't remember it now).

Just a thought

OK , Just remembered it was the Feingold theories on allergies, diet,

and hyperactive kids. http://www.feingold.org

Maybe the guaifenisen therapy is increasing the activity of this

enzyme, and thus helping patients in this way too (or perhaps

avoidance of salicylates is helping keep it from getting knocked down

in suseptible individuals?)

Hi Zippy,

Thanks for the PST enzyme info. Do you have any ideas of how to repair

a deficiency in this enzyme?

Thanks,

No, I'm sorry. I don't know how to repair the Phenolic-S-Transferase

Enzyme. All I know is that some things, like saclycilates will knock

down it's efficiency in some people a lot.

That's what I read at the Feingold Site.
