Guest guest
a, Sorry, I didn't post before. I took some time trying to find one of the on-line supplement companies that sold the brands I found that had lomatium only liquid extracts(Gaia Herbs brand)in 1 oz. sizes, called " Lomatium Supreme " , and another company(Eclectic Institute) that sells a combo liquid extract, " Lomatium-Osha " , which has Lomatium-Ligusticum-Wildcrafted, fresh Osha, Ligustiicum porteri, root; Licorice, Glycyrrhiza glabra, root; C.O.(certified organic) fresh Yarrow, Achillea millefolium, flower and leaf; C.O. Lemon balm, officianalis, leaf. This one has licorice root in it, so usually not a good idea to take for long periods. Whether short or long-term use, rule of thumb unless advised otherwise, is take herbs for 6 days, then off 1 day(so herb continues to be effective and body doesn't get too accustomed to it) or some herbs can take for a couple of weeks straight and then be off it for 2-3 weeks. Especially important to " pulse " herbal extracts if going to be taking it for some time and/or if taking to help reduce chronic infections. Eclectic Institute has great quality products, almost all either wildcrafted or certified organic, even their alcohol extracts are made with certified organic grape alcohol(which means they don't have any of the agricultural chemicals/pesticides/herbicides in " grain alcohol " ; no genetically modified corn that's often used to make " grain alcohol " used in herbal tinctures/extracts; many people are " allergic " to corn, even though after refining process there's very little left of corn in alcohol, it can still cause allergic reactions in people). Eclectic also have a much more concentrated product, called " LOMATIUM ISOLATE " , that don't think is listed on their website or my price list, but I ordered in the past since it's supposed to help viral infections more effectively in this highly concentrated form. Was expensive, but just took like 10-20 drops a day, if I remember correctly. Haven't bought it for awhile, but if you're interested in possibly trying it, I could call them and ask them if they sell this product to retail customers or you can get their retail contact number off their website and call them yourself. Just say a friend of yours that has CFIDS had used this particular product for viral/herpes infections and you wanted info. on it and if they sell it retail. Let person know you have CFIDS and are knowledgeable about supplements and herbs so that you understand how to use product. Maybe that would give you better possibility of being able to buy it retail if it's available. I think the reason they don't list it on website or my price list, is because it's very concentrated and feel that it's best to have a health care professional dispense it and follow person taking it. I didn't have any unusual side effects while taking it, but it did seem to help reduce infections. It is very concentrated, though, so if you did use it, I'd start out at lower than recommended dose, and if no serious herx, then you could work your way up to recommended dose in a week or so. I'll post(if they still sell it to me), their recommended dose for acute infections/CFIDS, which I believe was somewhat larger dose than on bottle/or as noted below. My sense of it at the time I talked with them about this product and ordered it for myself, was that mostly health professionals ordered this because it was so concentrated, but at the time, they allowed me to order it even though I was a " health food store. " It helped me when I had acute flare-ups more than just the regular lomatium extract, since stonger/more concentrated. I'll post the info. to the group after I call them within the next 2-3 works days, if they still stock this product, if they'll sell it to retail customers, price and contact # or you can call them yourself for info. via the toll free retail number listed on website. OOPSS! I still have some of the last bottle, it's called " Lomatium Isolate " (I got the GLYCERITE/NON-ALCOHOL form, but they also had it in alcohol form). The small amber glass bottle is around 15-20 mls or " 2 drams " (sorry I don't know exact equivalent in mls.). Directions say take 5-10 drops, 2 times daily, but if I recall, for serious/acute infection, they told me to take larger number of drops, maybe 3 times daily. I've kept it refrigerated wrapped in their cotton quilted protective material to keep light out (in dark amber glass bottle)to keep it potent. So, I always buy Eclectic Institute if I want a chemical free, high quality product for a reasonable price(they also have many glycerite (vegetable glycerin)extracts, that have little or none even of the organic grain alcohol they have to use to extract alot of the herbs originally; fresh, freeze dried whole herbs/extracts in capsule or gel forms. I'm able to buy their products wholesale, so it's cheaper for me(I have a VERY small nutrition home-based 'business' with just a handful of customers, mostly to save money by being able to buy my supplements at wholesale, but have to make a small profit so IRS doesn't come after me). So, I order products for a handful of customers, mostly sick folks to help them get suppl. cheaper or someone in my church who's gotten sick or needs to get on better quality supplements to improve their health. PLEASE UNDERSTAND, I'M NOT ADVERTIZING/TRYING TO SELL YOU ANYTHING, DON'T HAVE ENERGY TO HELP ALOT OF PEOPLE DUE TO HEALTH, UNFORTUNATELY, JUST ENOUGH TO KEEP " BUSINESS " ON THE UP AND UP. JUST THROWING OUT A COST SAVING VEHICLE THAT OTHERS COULD CHOOSE TO SET UP FOR THEMSELVES TO SAVE MONEY ON THEIR SUPPLEMENTS. SEE MY NEXT POST ON " NUTRITION BUSINESS INFO. " IF INTERESTED IN HOW TO DO THIS FOR YOURSELF. THIS HAS SAVED ME ABOUT 50% OFF RETAIL ON MOST PRODUCTS, SO IT'S HELPED US FINANCIALLY ALOT AND CAN ORDER WHAT/WHEN YOU WANT. So, a, hope this helps you, if you can't get Lomatium Isolate from Eclectic, my second choice would be finding a place on-line (discounted vitamin sites)or health food store that carries Gaia Herbal Liquid Extracts=their " Lomatium Supreme " liquid herbal ext. If I find a place on-line that carries Gaia, I'll post, haven't seen one yet, but maybe someone in group knows of an on-line supplement company that carries Gaia Herbal Extracts. More effective in liquid herbal extract form than in dry herb capsules generally. Good luck. Let us know what you come up with and I'll post any additional info. about Eclectic product or if find Gaia Herbs on-line.
