Guest guest
Hello guys, I have low thyroid and have been on thyroid med. Anyone know how to make the heart muscles and the heart in general stronger? I am taking my calcium and magnesium, I am taking folic Acid, I am taking CoQ10...and nothing is helping. Every time I take my thryoid med my heart flutters a lot..we thought it was because I was going HYPERthyroid but I got tested several times and I am still HYPOthyroid. I read an article in the paper that said if you have a weak heart that thyroid med can put you into heart failure even if you need the thyroid med...I am thinking this is what is going on with me. I think my heart can't handle the increase in metabolism when I take the thyroid med..I think my heart is too weak. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks,

I was also thinking it could be caused by Lyme or EBV or any other infection that got to my heart, I guess it is possible.
Guest guest
: If your heart seems like it is fluttering, you might have atrial fibrillation. There is an eGroup for AFib support called (not surprisingly) AFIBsupport (AFIBsupport). A-fib is condition where the atrium of the heart flutters instead of beating normally. This should not be confused with ventricular fibrillation which can be acutely life-threatening. AFib is serious and must be treated. Blood clots can form in the atrium, break lose, lodge in the brain and cause a stroke if AFib is not treated with blood thinners. Because it can be intermittent, the only way to really see what is happening may be by way of a Holter monitor which is worn for 24 hours or longer. The reason that I know about this is because I started with the CFS in 1983 then went hypothyroid and AFib years later. I now take beta-blockers for the AFib and have a pacemaker because of long heart pauses. I still have AFib, which reduces the efficiency of the heart (a.k.a. heart failure). Attempts to strengthen the heart muscle while in AFib can backfire, so I would recommend finding the cause of the heart flutter before doing a lot of exercise. And BTW, hypothyroidism can cause atrial fibrillation, regardless of what any given endocrinologist or cardiologist might think. Guest guest
Hi! Hawthorn Berry Tincture is well known to help strengthen the heart. There are no side effects that I know. I take it myself every morning. It is inexpensive. I buy mine at the local drug store that carries supplements. Guest guest
When I was taking thyroid medicine quite a while ago my heart fluttered terribly. I couldn't tolerate it and stopped. That isn't necessarily a sign of a weak heart. My new thyroid doc said that T3 will do that in many people, and some thyroid meds are T3, like Proloid, which I was taking. He said that Synthroid is far less likely to do that because while it gets converted to T3 it's not itself T3 (but T4) and gets converted more slowly reducing the tachychardia reaction. He's smart but I'm trying to decide whether or not to try it for my throid problem because I fear the tach because it's so uncomfortable. But you might try that and also try to find the lowest does, another thing he said. But a weak heart is something that if it means anything specific about the heart and it's being " sick " is not at all necessarily if at all revealed by getting tachychardia from thyroid meds.
