Guest guest
Hi, and all! What does Dr. Baschetti recommend you use with the Licorice extract if you are allergic to milk and also have to stay away from dairy because of chronic sinus/upper respiratory problems? I am also on low dose hydrocortisone. Adrenal deficiency runs in my family, but I am trying to research alternatives to strengthening my adrenals to see if they will respond and produce more cortisol/DHEA on their own so I can continue to decrease the amount of hydrocortisone. But, very allergic to milk and react very hypoglycemically to the milk sugar as well, so interested in what alternative medium he uses for the licorice ext. besides milk that is effective. Via Cheney bike testing, when physically stressed, your body temp./amount of cortisol your body produces should go up a certain amount to be normal. Most CFIDS folks will have a " blunted " response, just go up a small amount, rather than the higher normal amount. My response was so abnormal, that my body temp. went down and my cortisol went, not just up a little or flat, but went down significantly-so my bodies/HPA response to stress is VERY ABNORMAL. Do others have this type of abnormal response to stress? I mostly hear about that cortisol is supposed to be too high in most CFIDS cases. I seem to be in the minority. Wondered if there were others out there and what treatments they had found useful, if any, to help this problem, other than low dose hydrocortisone. Until the wonderful researchers and brave patients find new ways to rehabilitate our hypothalamus/brain and the abnormal endocrine responses connected to the brain/endocrine injury, I have to try to boost my body's ability to produce cortisol and DHEA-but cortisol esp. PLEASE RESPOND IF YOU HAVE DEALT WITH ADRENAL INSUFFICIENCY-LOW CORTISOL AND/OR LOW DHEA. MOST INTERESTED IN TX. FOR THE LOW CORTISOL, SINCE LOW DHEA IS SOMEWHAT EASIER TO TREAT WITHOUT AS NEGATIVE SIDE EFFECTS AS HYDROCORTISONE CAN HAVE. NOT JUST MILD INSUFFICIENCY, BUT MODERATE TO SEVERE IS WHAT I'M MORE INTERESTED IN. ALL INPUT IS APPRECIATED VERY MUCH! Better health to all of you! K. > It's the sodium in the milk. > > http://www.primenet.com/~camilla/licorice.html > " Dr. Baschetti's protocol uses relatively low doses of licorice, which is more in keeping with traditional herbalism than the D'Adamo protocol. Unlike D'Adamo, he does not tell people to stop taking it after a given period of time. He recommends 2 grams of licorice extract in milk once per day. He regards the milk as quite important, because it is high in sodium and theorizes that less licorice will be needed to raise blood pressure. In some of his patients, he also supplements the licorice with low dose (about 20 mg.) hydrocortisone. Guest guest
Hello K, Two approaches to the adrenal deal. Dr. Poesnecker believes the adrenals can be supported and brought back to reasonable functioning. If you haven't looked at his website it may be useful to you...www.chronicfatigue.org My wife has benefitted from this approach a great deal, but she is not fully well, so our quest goes on. We are in the midst of amalgam removal, suspecting mercury could be interfering with the HPA axis. Big " could " , but we feel it is a good idea not to amalgams in the mouth regardless if it is immediately beneficial. Detox takes a good while too. Nothing is terribly fast with these syndromes. You will also want to read Steve's/Carol's postings about the cheney protocol about growth factors. They are using a full regimen of Natcell products. You may want to simply try the Natcell Adrenal product for full adrenal support. There are other practitioners that have used this product in treating CFS with the element of adrenal insufficieny with some success. We have not taken the dive as of yet, but are interested. We will wait until after the amalgams are removed and detox is much underway. Guest guest
Although I have never had any western medicine tests done on my adrenals, my kinesiologist has told me that they are low functioning. He recommended a natural supplement called " Adrenogen " that has helped me a lot. I get it through metagenics (nutrition dynamics) 1 800 444 9998. It's item #M803 and comes in two different sizes 90 tabs for 13.49 and 270 tabs for 35.48. I take 2-4 tablets/day. Makes a big difference for me. I can tell when I go off of them.
