Guest guest
Hi Steve and all: Just perused Dr. Zhang's web site: www.dr-zhang.com. He is an accupuncturist and MD. He makes the following comment on the e-mail pages regarding Allicin vs Ganciclovir for CMV: " I have used it for CMV and also it has been tested for CMV to compare with Ganciclovir. The 50% inhibition of the infectious rate for Allicin was 3.8 mcg/ml and for Ganciclovir was 3.2 mcg/ml. They were comparable and Allicin has much less toxicity. " Personally I am interested in his Lyme protocol. Am currently experimenting with Allicin capsules. Dr. Zhang says it will penetrate the BBB so is good for neuro-Lyme symptoms. Can't tolerate abx so am looking for natural abx. Any comments/experiences with this protocol from Lymies on this list? Hope __________________________________________________

Hope > Hey Hope I know 2 people who tried this, both quit because treatment was too difficult, expensive, and they were not getting any better. Sorry for the bad news, and I don't have many details. I hope you have better luck. tansy
Guest guest
What is the strength/brand of the Allicin capsules. And dose. Also, has there been anything done on substituting fresh organically grown garlic and used uncooked so that the allicin remains intact? I would assume this to be much cheaper but wonder if there's anyone who's found out how to estimate how much fresh garlic (cloves of a certain size) is needed to equal what's considered the therapeutic level of the allicin in capsule form. I've been using one or two good-sized cloves per day for a while now, spread on multi-grain bread covered with high lignan flaxseed oil. And it is very tasty. When I use baking soda to brush my teeth and gargle " others " claim I don't smell garlicky. I think garlic in tablets/capsulse is probably worthless compared to the real thing. -
