Hi,

I know a man on another my Mito list who drinks pickle juice when is gets

terribly thirsty, and it works for him! But what is more strange is (if he

is actually serious!) that then he wants ice cream. I asked him if he were

pregnant..

I didn't know autonomic nervous system controled kidney function - always

learning. I'm heat intolerant and have been told it is the autonomic

nervous system. Also my body can;t make energy properly and O2 isn't

utilized. It's all connected.....

Take care,

Christie

Hi, Christie and all!

I have struggled with the same thing-dry mouth, not feeling thirsty

exactly, just that body needed water and lower back above hip bones

on both sides would begin to ache if I didn't drink alot and often.

Is this area where kidneys are located? Can't remember. Just

wondering what organs I may be stressing when don't seem to have

enough water.

Dr. gave me a couple of packets of gookinaid today to try to help

with upping blood volume. Had friend who said the gook really helped

increase her blood volume, but the citric acid in it bothered her

stomach.

Question: I have serious hypoglycemic reaction to any sugar at all,

even fructose, if in liquid form(like fruit juice), rather than an

apple(low in sugar with the fiber to slow absorption) after a meal.

Since Gook has glucose and fructose in it, I am concerned about

having hypoglycemic reaction to it, so thought I would have a

protein/good oil snack and begin drinking slowly after the snack

thinking snack would slow my absorption of the sugar, but could still

benefit from the gook's effect on increasing blood volume???

#2- Any kind of sugar causes serious immune suppression, so I haven't

even been eating fruit lately, since just got over about a 4 mo. bad

bout with acute infections. Anyone out there that has same reaction

to eating any kind of sugar(I get infection sometimes within a few

hours or next day)-and have you also used gookinaid?

If anyone has had either serious hypoglycemia or marked immune

suppression resulting in infection from sugars or both and had any

experience with reaction to gookinaid-please post.

Thanks a million!

If I eat sugars (or refined grains), I get ...

a) headache and " off " the next day - which I don't think is infection, and

B) bad itches which I think are due to a skin fungal infection - this

would imply a lowered immune suppression of that fungus.

c) I do become more susceptible to viruses and urt infections, but not as

predictably as you do.

I think the link between sugars and some kind of negative effect on the

immune system is pretty well agreed by doctors, although not by mine who

says he can't see why this would be so. Yeh, well...

Cheers,

From the onset of this illness I've noted very erratic (I suppose) kidney

function, in that some days I'd constantly be urinating and some days

hardly at all, with it not being explainable by liquid intake. Frequency

was not usually the result of irritable bladder or ureter: it was

accompanied by volume.

I've tried to get doctors to look into this; some have but I'm not

convinced they've done so comprehensively, which could be very time

consuming.

Like another on the list I have noticed that when I can't urinate much my

pain level increases even though I see no outward signs of swelling.

My " remedy " now is drinking lots under these conditions, especially

things that I assume are diuretic, including watermelon processed into

juice, asparagus, parsely, and maybe ginger.

From what I read about Gook, you may be surprised to get no reaction at all

like you normally do. Why not just try a small amount of Gook and if your

body's cool with it, go to a larger serving. If larger serving bothers you

let me know and I'll offer a couple suggestions. I never tried Gook myself.

K and All,

My last consultation with Cheney we talked for some time about Gookinaid.

One of my test results showed that I have a mild form of Diabetes Incipitus.

So Gookinaid is the remedy but He said if I didn't tolerate Gookinaid , I could

make a mixture of selszer water and salt to taste( I'll check my tape for the

recipe) and this would work almost as well as Gookinaid but Gookinaid is still

more precise...take G on empty stomach and sip slowly....

He said the low blood volume is the culprit

K, I haven't tried Gookinaid for exactly the reasons you post. I have

serious hives that would go through the ceiling if there was any sugar in my

life. I think I get around the blood volume thing bc I get IV infusions

every week. Some say the infusions could just be saline and that would help

for blood volume at least. FWIW.

Alternative to Gookinaid from my consultation with Cheney

1/2 glass water

1/2 glass seltzer

1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt

if the mixture tastes too saltly then there is too much salt

the carbonation increases the rapidity of the absorption

Just reading this now. I do not tolerate Gookinaid at all for some reason,

either the citric acid or hypoglycemia. Makes me nauseous and increases my

headache severity. , when you get a chance could you please share the

recipe for seltzer water and salt that Cheney gave you? Thanks

K,

I have serious hypoglycemic problems and I'm a regular user of gookinaid.

I'd say I've got a good sense of how to use gookinaid without suffering from

a hyperinsulinemic/hypoglycemic reaction. For me, the rules are pretty much

as follows:

1) Don't drink Gook first thing in the morning. do H20, etc.

2) If you take whey take it certainly a good deal before any gook

3) Make sure you have a good high protein meal before beginning the day's

gook.

4) After the meal has digested somewhat then start into a glass of gook and

drink it over approx. 15 mins--no faster to start at least.

5) If you want/have to drink it during day, be sure to just sip and not gulp

it.

6) Probably due to innate circadian rhythms, I find myself able to tolerate

the glucose in the gook best after dinner. from then on until bedtime I'm

able to drink 3-4 glasses total without having to observe much caution. But

in the day I do.

7) It definitely does produce a hypoglycemic effect in me under certain

conditions: If I'm stuck somewhere hot with only a thermos full of cool

gookinaid I'll tend to drink it faster and more of it than I should. Then

I'll start to feel woozy and sleepy within about 30-60 minutes.

8) Eating some fats might help also before/after the gook to help stabilize

blood sugar levels???

Just some thotz,

--
