Guest guest
Steve Why do you doubt HHV6? Phil I know some in this group are following the new Viracor HHV6 test and the introduction of Valganciclivor/Valcyte? I tested positive on the first HHV6 test and then negative on the new test. That lead me to believe that the test was a flop. But I just called Viracor (816)347-0113 (they will send a kit to your Drs office if you call them) & found out I WAS IN THE BAD BATCH. Excuse me for shouting but I have been so negative towards the HHV6 issue since I was tested and got well, a negative result--it is supposed to be impossible to get a negative result on the new test if you were positive on the old test. I still have BIG doubts about the whole HHV6 concept, but at least now I feel like it is a possibility. Roche announced that the FDA approved Valganciclivor on 3/31/01 and have said it will be in pharmacies in late spring. The product name will be Valcyte. Some feel that it will be effective on both strains A & B, as well as CMV and some effect on EBV. Is anyone else researching this issue. It may be a fly goose chase, or any of the above listed viral infections may be co infection related to a weak immune system. But my immune system checked out just fine -- need some extra NK cells? I got me. If it is just a co-infection it is still possible that treating it may make you feel a little better. Even Dr. N (I believe) says viral infection may be part of the CFS complex. So run, don't walk, to that phone and call Viracor then call your local pharmacy. I am not trying to be a salesman....I'm a doubting ( & that is my middle name) but it is worth a shot & it is my understanding that Viracor does accept Medicare & they can do a complete HHV 6 (strains A & CMV and EBV panel. And because this new test focuses on the DNA it call differentiate between strains HHV6 strain A & B. Steve
