5 -HTP and Sam-e, St. 's Wort or others

Switching from Paxil to 5-HTP should be not much different than switching

brands of antidepressants--no big deal. I have not heard of any

contraindications of using

SAM-e at the same time as 5-HTP either, so it should be quite safe.

Forgive me if information on this subject has already been posted.

If one is trying to wean off Paxil, and would like to take 5-HTP at

night for sleep deprivation, would it be possible to discontinue the

Paxil and two weeks later start the 5-HTP? I understand there have

been serious concerns with SSRI's, 5-HTP and serotonin syndrome.

Also, would it be possible to take Sam-e while on 5-HTP? I like the

idea of Sam-e because of its' beneficial effects of joints.

I'm also wondering whether achieving Stage 4 sleep with 5-HTP over

time might preclude the need for antidepressants altogether.

Has anyone found any literature on this subject online?
