Guest guest
There was some discussion about RNase L: the agony it causes in phase one when it is upregulated, how it downregulates in phase two, and the concern that we might have none in phase three. There is an article on Cheney's three phases on our support group website www.virtualhometown.com/dfwcfids that explains RNase L in more detail, particularly the agony it causes in phase one. It usually downregulates by itself, though ampligen can make it happen much faster. But it can also upregulate again later - fluctuate as it were. I only became aware of that at my visit to Cheney last October. Downregulate simply means that the more destructive lower wieght form disappears, but the body retains the ability to whip out the regular RNase L if needed, if the Th2 part of our immune system isn't suppressing it too much. (See the article on balancing the immune system on the website for more info.) Cheney's real concern is that those in phase three who have no growth hormone, no longer have the means to produce any RNase L. It's a protein, and protein synthesis is required to produce it, and protein synthesis does not happen without growth hormone. This means we may have lost our main defense against cancer, viruses, intracellular bacteria, etc. (More info on this is in the article on our site on Cheney's growth hormone and bovine growth factor treatment.) Take care. Carol
