Mike (or anyone here), what kind of juicer do you use? I am interested in

one that will:

-Juice veggies well, esp. green leafy ones, but also carrots

-Be easy to clean

[Patti] I have a champion juicer. Easy to use, easy to clean, gives good,

high quality juice. I've done lots of juice fasting. Personally I don't

start seeing results until after 4 or 5 days. My average juice fast is

about 7 days, but I've gone as long as 10 days. When I first started

juicing I had a cheap juicer, which was OK and it did the job but a total

pain to clean. I ended up literally burning it up (smoke came out the

back). I don't think the cheap ones can hold up to the rigors of a juice

fast, they are made more for occasional use. After burning up my cheap

juicer I bought a champion.

One of the reasons I like the champion is because it can be used for

purposes other than juicing. I like to make sprout bread and the champion

is the only thing I know that can grind kamut sprouts to make sprout bread.

You can also use it to make your own nut butters. I use my champion to make

my own almond butter (much cheaper than in the store) and my own brazil nut

butter (which you can't even find in the store). The champion people claim

that juice made with a champion is more bioavailable because the shredders

actually break open the cell walls and this supposedly doesn't happen with

other juicers. Maybe that's true and maybe not.

I found that juice fasting was much more " effective " and the results " last "

longer if I follow a total detox program while juice fasting. I usually go

to Glenwood springs for my fasts and spend all day either in the hot springs

or in the vapor caves and include treatments like massage and mud wraps.
