Guest guest
Hi all, this is a bit off-topic but I think you might help me. There are cardio-vascular problems in my and my husband's families and that's why my son was tested if he was in a risk to develop them too. I watch him carefuly, aware that genetics may contribute to CFS. He is ok except of ADD. His cholesterol was within a range but his triglycerides are elevated. My mother who has serious cardiac and vascular problems and in her youth suffered from something very similar to CFS has similar results. I would appreciate tips what supplements might help to lower the triglycerides and what other test I should require from our mainstream drs. Thanks in advance! Guest guest
Dear Stania, My husband has the same problem, cholesterol of about 200, not that bad for someone almost 50, but triglycerides...don't ask, once they were 600, now about 300...and they all have cardio problems on his side (I was told that it is also a matter of area, hungarians and slovakians have highter cholesterol and triglycerides than most americans etc. - he is from slovakian-hungarian background). Anyhow they told him to try the following: first lose weight and very vigorous exercize. It worked! but then he put on weight again and it went up from 150 to 320. There are drugs for it but there is also something natural which often helps, it's called " hilbe " in arab countries (like around here in the middle east) but in English I think it is fennel. It smells bad and tastes bad but now they make formula in capsules and it's not too bad. Good luck. Judy elevated triglycerides > Hi all, > this is a bit off-topic but I think you might help me. > There are cardio-vascular problems in my and my husband's families and > that's why my son was tested if he was in a risk to develop them too. When I cut out refined sugar, my triglycerides dropped from 300 to 85 or so. FWIW. Mike > Stania
Guest guest
Thats correct. Eliminating sugars from the diet will lower triglycerides. Low thyroid function can also be a cause of elevated triglycerides as was in my case. I had Triglycerides at 1040 with a healthy diet and exercise. Once the hypothyroidism was discovered, and I began taking thyroid hormone replacement, triglycerides dropped 800 points The 800 point drop corresponded with a 3 point drop in TSH.
