Guest guest
Janet, Sometimes we just get red ears and I can't figure out why. We do not get them nearly as much as when we started the diet. DonnaC
Guest guest
Janet, I know the feeling. I am hoping the enzymes will reach a new plauteau but I have a feeling there is more to learn. I need to address his yeast as well as my older sons. He also has some sensory issues. If there is not an avaiable DAN doctor, who should I go see ? a neurologist, angeneral practitioner. I feel frustration over not knowing what to do. Day three of enzymes and still a little off- a little wild, a little loud. But last night when he was sleeping I don't think I have ever heard him so quiet. He used to have nightmares everynight. Not long after he started the diet he said he didn't have bad dreams anymore!Does anyone know A good publication that will help family members understand part of this? Sorry to get so far off subject! Donna C
Guest guest
Janet, How many HN-Zyme Primes do you have to give usually? > My son Holden has a HUGE problem with red ears. They are ALWAYS indicative of an allergy with him. His " ears " have identified lots of allergies. For example, within 15 minutes of playing on a therapy ball... red ears. (allergy to latex); rolling on carpeting...red ears (allergy to petroleum), GFCF Christmas cookies (allergy to red dye #40), just to mention a few. His ears are an indicator of whether I've given him enough ZP to deal with phenol foods. I'd be interested in what physiologically happens to cause it. I must say, though, they help me!! > > Janet M > [ ] Re: RED EARS > > > Barbara, > My son used to get red ears all the time. They would almost always precede > a huge meltdown. Guest guest
Thanks for the reply, ... Generally, for each GFCF meal I give 1 ZP, and 1 Pep. If he is having phenols, I give 2 to 3 ZPs, which have helped a lot to reduce the phenol response (hot head, hyper, red ears) but I also find the red ears in non-food issues, including outdoor allergies. What do you think? Janet [ ] Re: RED EARS > > > Barbara, > My son used to get red ears all the time. They would almost always precede > a huge meltdown. Guest guest
Donna, Actually, red ears with the food sensitivities occur within 15 mins. to 1 hour after eating with my son. Janet Re: [ ] Re: RED EARS (Janet) Janet, I think we get red ears for nonfood issues but it is hard to tell since food reactions can take a while. Guest guest
Janet, I just did a search and could not find much at all on outdoor allergens and red ears; everything seems to point to food. However,I wouldn't dismiss your observations if you think Holden reacts that way. Moms are usually right! I wonder if Doris Rapp's book, " Is This Your Child? " addresses this. > > My son Holden has a HUGE problem with red ears. They are ALWAYS > indicative of an allergy with him. His " ears " have identified lots > of allergies. Guest guest
Thanks Donna for the input. I must say that I am OFTEN perplexed!! Tomorrow I take Holden to the DAN doctor for a 6 month review. I pray that I write down all the questions that are constantly lurking in my head. I feel like he has plateaued. I would really like to break the next ceiling. We haven't done chelating, nor secretin... just not sure. Thanks again, Janet Re: [ ] Re: RED EARS (Janet) Janet, Sometimes we just get red ears and I can't figure out why. Guest guest
Donna, If you do find a DAN doctor, I have heard they vary in regards to being good or not as much as a regular doctor. I think you need to find a specialist that is interested in working with you. This person could be in any area (neurology, dev. ped., family doc., psychiatrist). Hopefully the enzymes will help you reach a new level. They do help with yeast and sensory issues in many people, so at least you know they aren't hurting anything. I am glad to hear he is sleeping better, that is a plus. The heightened awareness may take a little time to adjust too. I took me a good 4 weeks or so and I still find myself thinking " I am A-W-A-K- E. What should I do now! " Because I was so used to feeling so bad all the time, I have this extra energy now I am not used to. I used to crash at 6 pm each night, but now I am still feeling well at 10 pm. Keep in touch how he is doing over the next few days.
Guest guest
How do you address his yeast? Deb K. Subject: Re: [ ] Re: RED EARS (Janet) > Janet, I know the feeling. Guest guest
I haven't addressed it yet. I was hoping not to have to go to yeast free diet so we have just been working on the gfcf diet. Donna
Guest guest
and Janet: This book does talk about Red Ears. I'm on the last chapter now. Janet, were you the one too that talked about allergies/problems at school?? This book also refers to a lot of issues with indoor allergies particularly at school. Schools use so many chemicals especially to clean this can cause a lot of problems with our kids. My son gets red ears too as his indicator of problems. We especially notice it with phenols, like tomatoes and apples. We avoid these items and he rarely gets red ears except in the bath tub. Our Dan Dr said that was from the heat, but you know I'm wondering if it might not be a mold problem too? Again a mother's instinct?!?! Guest guest
I've been away from the board for several days (a few hundred messages ago) but the Red Ears caught my eye. When I eliminated eggs, the red ears disappeared. Boom. Just thought I'd pass that on. Diane > > Thanks for the reply, ... > > > > Generally, for each GFCF meal I give 1 ZP, and 1 Pep.
