Guest guest
Hi, Ken, , & all, With so much discussion on aerobic capacity, fast vs. slow-twitch muscles, etc. I thought I should put in a few words. I also was more of an endurance type, but hated running so no X-country. Also, slight build, lower muscle mass, had the capacity to hold my breath for long periods, and prefer non-continuous sports. When I was tested for mito funtion over the summer, the researcher noted that I have the muscle makeup of an Olympic-class sprinter - almost all slow-twitch (anaerobic) with little slow-twitch (aerobic) even after enough exercise that the aerobic set should have kicked in. He saw this thru pH change in the muscle (went acid within a second of starting exercise) and phosphocreatine levels.
