Guest guest
Just had a visit with Dr. Mazlen and he did a carbon monoxide breath test on me. He has youtake in a large breath of air and hold it for 23 seconds( thought I was going to pass out !) and then you have to blow your air into a plastic bag with a Carbon Monoxide testing device in it. My level was a 4. He wants me to see a pulmonologist and have an arterial blood gas done. Has anyone else done this? This is not similar to the VO2 max that was on the list recently is it? a _________________________________________________________________ " Do me a favor, doc, tell me something good. Guest guest
There was a report on carbon monoxide breath test at the AACFS conference. The logic of it makes absolute sense: If there is a problem delivering oxygen (including releasing it) to the tissue, then when fuel is burned there is not enough oxygen to allow CO2 to be produce, only CO (Carbon Monoxide). Hence the impaired O2 delivery results in CO being produced -- WHICH FURTHER IMPAIRS O2 delivery (CO binds to hemoglobin do not as much O2 may be carried by the blood). My MD view this is another quick and cheap indicators for a possible CFIDS condition (especially catching EARLY -- her provisional diagnosis of me with CFIDS at 3 months, allowed my recovery to proceed much faster because treatment started before things progressed to far in a downward spiral), the two are: SED (0-4) CO (Carbon Monoxide) >= 2 Remember, the MD is a country family practise MD with many patients with little or no medical insurance... quick and cheap indicators are things she needs in her diagnostic tests. CORRECT: This is not the VO2 Max test, but it is another INDICATOR of the same underlying problem: problems with oxygen delivery (POSSIBLE CAUSES: hypercoagulation, low red blood cell mass, blood pH, chemical poisoning, vascullar constriction etc). > Just had a visit with Dr. Mazlen and he did a carbon monoxide breath test on > me.
