Guest guest
Before taking antler velvet you may want to be aware of this controversy. There was a story in the Sunday paper here in Denver about how " mad cow disease " has been found in deer and elk (called chronic wasting disease - CWD - in deer and elk) in the US. Two hunters have died already of mad cow (called Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease - CJD - in humans). Hunters have been asked to send in samples of the deer/elk they killed and not eat the meat until tests come back and some officials are thinking that it might also be spread by antler velvet. As many as 15% of the wild deer in parts of Colorado have the disease. Also found in commercial deer and elk farms. I didn't save the article I read in the paper, but just did a quick search and found the following: http://www.purefood.org/meat/wisdeer.cfm <http://www.purefood.org/meat/wisdeer.cfm> http://www.purefood.org/meat/elkvelvet.cfm <http://www.purefood.org/meat/elkvelvet.cfm> http://www.purefood.org/Meat/utahcjd.cfm <http://www.purefood.org/Meat/utahcjd.cfm> Patti -- http://albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumList?u=866650 <http://albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumList?u=866650 & Auth=false> & Auth=false
