I think I just sent you an empty e-mail. Pushed the wrong button.

Sorry! Thanks for the info. I will check into it! I think his problem is

getting worse! Take care. Donna

Isn't it funny how all this knowledge about what is going on with our

autistic children can " leak " out to the rest of our family? I now

know the diagnosis and cure for every physical problem I had growing

up and I KNOW the enzymes help me. Too bad I can't afford to keep

taking them. My needs come last after my children's, and we don't

have the means to " fix " me yet. I also know my husband has liver

problems and I'm heavy metal toxic. All these things, and many more,

I have found out through Logan. I don't doubt for one second that

your older child has the same digestive problems. Can I ask a kooky

question? Did you have any fillings put in between having you first

child and your second? Just curious.

sincerely,

Kaye

Someone one another list I'm on just asked about the same question on allegies

and asthma with food intolorences. The Nuerodevelopmentalist who answered said

Yes they can all be connected. While this boy's doctor was trying to prescribe

yet another medication for him to go on, the ND recommended highly for the mom

to contact Chembalance, as they also deal with asthma, environmental allergies,

and seizures in relation to food allegies. Their web site is

www.chembalance.com/ They are big in controlling these through food not medicine

and are very affordable.

Our younger daughter, NT but asthmatic, had severe allergies to food dyes (awful

itchy rash), shellfish, yeast (these kicked in her asthma). One day, before we

knew what was going on, she'd eaten a bagel for breakfast, a sandwich with yeast

bread for lunch and shrimp lomein for supper. By that evening she sounded like

a truck. She was on inhalers four times a day and still wasn't well. This all

developed right before puberty. Before age 10-11, she'd had no asthma. She

would often get upset stomachs, sometimes she would complain that her stomach

hurt but she wouldn't vomit. This could go on for hours. I believe it was the

yeast gurgling away in there. The chiropractor who treats our eldest (autism)

tested the younger one for allergies and isolated her trigger foods. Since

taking the dyes, yeast, shellfish and sugar (feeds yeast) out of her diet, she

hasn't had an upset stomach since (okay, last Thanksgiving, she ate a huge piece

of regular -sugar- cheesecake but paid the price dearly that night!). Our

chiropractor also adjusted her to clear the allergies and we weaned her off

meds. Today she takes nothing for the asthma, watches what she eats (can now do

occasional cheats) and feels tons better. Moral of the story: if we hadn't

found this chiropractor who treats allergies, she'd probably still be on meds

and eating the wrong foods. Link to autism? How many families with autism in

one member have multiple members with allergies and asthma as well?

Just our story.

Jean. That is so amazing. I am only15 years late inlearning this. I think I

will try the enzymes first and see what happens. Thanks so much. Donna

We haven't tried enzymes yet, so I can't tell you if they would help

for asthma and allergies. However, in our experience, food

intolerances definitely play a role in my son's asthma. He spent 4-

1/2 years on various asthma medications, from age 2-1/2 to 7. His

asthma improved dramatically when we cut gluten out of his diet. (He

was already off milk most of that time, and accidental ingestion also

made his asthma even worse.)He now doesn't take any preventive

medication and rarely needs albuterol. Our DAN doctor also says that

yeast problems can make asthma worse.

Good luck!

Joan, I have a 7 year old HFA or asperger's. He is my youngest I am putting

him on enzymes but also my oldest who has allergies and asthma. We are two

days into it. Hopefully it will help. I haven't looked into the yeast

connection but maybe I should what are you doing for that exactly. Donna C.

Donna:

We just took yeast out of her diet entirely. This means reading labels as some

crackers, pretzels and snack foods contain yeast. The chiropractor uses a

neural organization technique, similar to NAET, to clear allergies out of the

system so we didn't do anything else for the NT daughter.

The daughter with autism has had a few rounds of nystatin when she was between

the ages of four and eight. We were dealing with a homeopathic dr. back then

(ten years ago as daughter is now 18) and had not yet found the chiropractor who

also worked on clearing yeast from her.

Try taking the yeast out of the eldest one's diet for a week. No bread, bagels,

pizza, pretzels, snack foods with yeast, canned soups or broths, gravies, etc.

Read labels. At the end of a week, if he doesn't feel any different, then

that's probably not a part of his profile. When I did this myself, I felt tons

better within five days.

Please write back and let me know what happens as I haven't heard of any

asthmatics who were helped by removing yeast but I'd almost bet the ranch that

there are a lot out there.
