Guest guest
Hi , My younger son had loose stools for 2 days before he straightened out. This was on Peptizyde only. Older son and myself didn't have this reaction. This is very common when starting any enzymes, so that is probably what it going on. Especially if he was pretty regular when you began. It is because the food is being digested so much more thoroughly and the body needs to adjust. You might see increased thirst for the same reason. If it continues past another couple days, try increasing the fiber in his diet. If he still has stomach aches (this doesn't quite sound right) get in touch with Devin Houston, and maybe back off on the enzymes a little. Some people do see a little withdrawal when starting enzymes with GFCF because they also work on the soy proteins. Soy is very problematic because the protein structure is so similar to the gluten/casein. Even the testing labs say that consuming soy can elevate the peptide test results. Please post back in a few days (if not before) to say how it is going.
Guest guest
We have been using peptizyde & HN-Zyme Prime for 3 days now. My son is still GFCF. He has been on the diet for 3 months now. I can't say that I have seen much improvement from the diet, but I am determined to stay with it just in case. He is very high functioning, has good sleep patterns, is pleasant (90% of the the time), and has always had normal bowel movements. Because of all of these things he had a late diagnosis (4.3 years old). I was hoping that these enzymes would be a great help for him. However, he has had stomach aches and diahrrea the past 3 days. Is this from the enzymes? I really don't think it's because of " withdrawal " . We have been so careful and so basic on the diet...very slim chance that he was having infractions! He has been the most amazing sport about it. Are any of you experiencing stomach aches and diahrrea? I thought that the enzymes were supposed help bowel movements. My son's were fine before we started and now they're not! I'd love to hear any ideas. Jen
Guest guest
Jen, cut back on the Peptizyde, but continue with the Zyme Prime, and see if that doesn't help the loose stool and stomach ache. Guest guest
Hi : I've been using the Peptizyde and Zyme Prime for myself and both of my sons. My older son is doing fine with the enzymes, but I developed some stomach aches after taking too many and not being careful about what I was taking them for, as well as timing issues. My little guy didn't do too well either and would complain of his stomach hurting him. Coincidentally, we all came down with a nasty intestinal bug and I've held off giving any enzymes until I know this bug has passed. I think I did more harm than good with myself by continuing with enzymes during my own bout with this same bug. Now I'm back to taking them, but only when I intend an infraction and so far, I've felt fine. I will try again with my little guy, but wait a bit because he's still complaining of stomach pain occasionally - usually when he poops, but I will be extra careful for the time being. I don't know if there is a period of time when the body has to adjust to enzymes, but this may be the case. Good luck. Guest guest
Hi Jen, I am very interested in your post. How have the enzymes been going? Did the problems clear up? Still gfcf? What is your son's diagnosis? We too did not have luck with the diet. Barbara > We have been using peptizyde & HN-Zyme Prime for 3 days now. My son is > still GFCF. Guest guest
Devin, Is " cutting back " 1/2 capsule a meal??? Why do you think my son has reacted this way? Guest guest
Barbara, In answers to your questions: my son had diarrhea and complained of stomachaches again today (he usually complains about an hour after taking the enzymes). Devin recommended cutting back on the peptizyde, so I will try that tomorrow (I'm guessing a half capsule is cutting back????) So I will post the results. We are still gfcf and are committed to remaining that way for a while. My son's diagnosis is autism (described as " high functioning " for whatever that is worth). He developed typically for about the first 3 years and then had a regression (yes late!!!) when our next baby was born (we wrote it off as sibling rivalry ha ha!). We had our first visit with a DAN doctor and are looking into chelation. So we have been on the autism treadmill for a LONG 4 months. I can not say the diet has not helped him. But he has never had the typical symptoms that children who do well on the diet usually have (he eats anything and has normal bowel movements...until enzymes! LOL!) We have seen definite improvements in him over the last 4 months, but it's hard to say if it's from ABA, diet or supplements! I do know that he has been wonderful about the diet. He never complains or wants what someone else is eating. He eats just about anything that i put in front of him. If I tell him that something will " hurt his tummy " , then he wants NOTHING to do with it...which makes me wonder if he knows the diet helps him feel better. Probably more information than you wanted.... Jen 08:29 PM 7/14/01 +0000, you wrote: >Hi Jen, > >I am very interested in your post. How have the enzymes been going? >Did the problems clear up? Guest guest
Jen, I don't know how many caps per meal you are giving your son, but if his stomach keeps hurting, stop the Peptizyde and continue with one capsule of Zyme Prime, see if that helps. Then you can start the Peptizyde again a few days later. I remember when I started taking enzyme supplements, I noticed a small amount of pain after several days of taking them. I stopped taking them for about a week, then re-started and have not had any pain since (5 years). It could that the enzymes are clearing a lot of " debris " from the upper small intestine, or making the gut more active, which could cause discomfort. The Zyme Prime has less protease activity than Peptizyde, so using that alone for a few days may clear it up. Devin > > > We have been using peptizyde & HN-Zyme Prime for 3 days now. Guest guest
Jen, I take both Peptizyde and HN-Zyme Prime. I had a stomach ache for over a week when I first started taking them. Nothing severe, but noticeable. I never have a problem now. > > >Jen, cut back on the Peptizyde, but continue with the Zyme Prime, > and > > >see if that doesn't help the loose stool and stomach ache. > > >Devin > > > > > >--- In @y..., Cannon <jcannon@i...> wrote: > > > > We have been using peptizyde & HN-Zyme Prime for 3 days now. I discovered that the cranberry was giving me stomach aches. So, if you are using supplements this may be the cause. a _________________________________________________________________ MSN 8 helps eliminate e-mail viruses. She's basically off milk and knows not to take it but it does creep in. Thanks, [ ] Stomach aches Are the stomach aches occurring with the morning meal, after eating dinner late the evening before?
