I will say, though, that he seems to be well connected with the autism people, such as Bernie Rimland and Woody McGinnis, both of whom I've met. Although he doesn't give references for a lot of what he says, for those parts of the biochemistry that I'm familiar with, he does generally seem to know what he's talking about, and he does seem to show concern for the kids with autism. I intend to check on some of the things he says that I haven't heard before, but I must say I hope he's right about them, because they would help to make some important connections for me. Guest guest
Hey, The idea of vitamin A for kids with autism originated by Dr. Megson- a child neurologist with the U. of VA in Richmond. She herself has an autistic son and has been treating autistic kids for many years. However, she found that the regular cod liver oil (CLO) that is sold by most manufacturers is spiked with a certain form of vitamin A that is called Palmitate and which has not from cod liver at all. In order to get unspiked CLO for her research, she asked Kirkmanlabs for help. Mr. Humphrey the head of Kirkmanlabs cooperated and produces it for her. Since she is well known/respected in the autism circles, the word got out and many parents buy this CLO (Kirkmanlabs sells many other products for autistic kids which is probably why Dr. Megson asked for its help). Generally speaking, impurities are a big known problem with fish oil products and most people are not aware of it. When I decided to try CLO I was looking for a good product and that how I came across the article of Dr. Megson and from there to Kirkman's Lab. Kirkmanlabs submitted their CLO to 2 independent labs for testing and you can see the results on their website (www.kirmanlabs.com). If you are not sure whether CLO is for you, then it sells a sample for $3. I wish more manufacturers gave us such an opportunity to buy a sample to see if a supplement even helps- I have thrown so many almost full bottles of various supplements as I am sure many others on this list have done. Recently, I purchased Kirkman's vitamin E as well just because I trust them. I hope that www.consumerlab.com will have vitamin E test results in the future.. Sincerely, Gail > Hello, I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the author of > the autism report? Does he have a website?
