Guest guest
Hi everyone, I am new to this discussion group as well as Achalasia. It started 6 1/2 months ago with not being able to swallow and then I went in for endoscopy and the regurgitation started. I have been a patient at Aurora med in kenosha, Wi for a very long time and they referred me to Froedert Medical College of Wis in Milwaukee. I just had the graded pneumatic dilation and that helped and I am able to eat and drink again, within some limits of course. Just curious if there is anyone being treated at Froedert and just real interested to hear other experiences with this wonderful disease. Thanks for listening Kim
Guest guest
Hello , I read your story on your website and noticed you had surgery at Emory. I'm in Atlanta and have been referred to Dan - have not seen him yet for consult. Can you share who you saw here - and what your experience with him/her was? I would appreciate any info. Considering an HM early next year. Thanks, Kim ________________________________ From: Mueller IV <mt4mar@...> " achalasia " <achalasia > Sent: Monday, November 21, 2011 3:59 PM Subject: Re: Achalasia  Hello Kim I am sorry that you are dealing with this disease.  I am glad that you have found this group.  I have not been treated at that location but I have been therough all you can over the years.  If you have any questions please feel free to ask.  I have a web site too if you would like to look at.  www.achalasia.us. Guest guest
Hi Mike, I was originally referred to Dr Massey but would have had to wait 2 1/2 months and just wasn't in good shape then. I ended up seeing Dr Babei and Dr Massey actually came in to observe the dialation. Thanks for sharing that. Next time I go back I wanted to meet with him. Dr Babei in their GI dept is good as well but they actually only treat about 2-3 patients a year with Achalasia. But I would say for this area the best possibility for treatment. Are you still a patient at Froedert?  Kim in Kenosha ________________________________ From: mike in WI <dtfanx@...> " achalasia " <achalasia > Sent: Tuesday, November 22, 2011 12:26 PM Subject: Re: Achalasia  I was treated at Froedert for Achalasia. My surgeon is no longer there, but Dr. Massey in the GI department is apparently regarded as the number 1 guy in the state. I found this out after I moved, and my new GI doctor told me he refers all dilitations over 20 cm to him. mike in WI ________________________________ From: Kim <xploring37@...> achalasia Sent: Monday, November 21, 2011 11:40 AM Subject: Achalasia  Hi everyone, I am new to this discussion group as well as Achalasia. Guest guest
I had to move 'up north' a few years ago for a job, so I have not been there recently. I do know that if I would need to be dilated again, I will do all I can to see Dr. Massey. Once you are a patient of his, it is a lot quicker to get in to see him. I just had a second HM at the UW in Madison with Dr. Tracey Weigel. She did it robotically, and I am very pleased with the results so far! mike in WI ________________________________ From: Kim Abrams <xploring37@...> " achalasia " <achalasia > Sent: Tuesday, November 22, 2011 8:53 PM Subject: Re: Achalasia  Hi Mike, I was originally referred to Dr Massey but would have had to wait 2 1/2 months and just wasn't in good shape then. Guest guest
I agree. I certainly tried everything under the sun, for years, and most of the *best* stuff, worked *a bit* ~~ and for those years, a *bit* was enough. Caffeine, nicotine, fat, magnesium, B150, Hyoscamine, DHEA (for the lady hormones) -- was looking into acupuncture when the ol' body hit the wall, despite everything. The thing is, the scams don't ONLY target Achalasians, but lots of other people with much more toxic diseases than we have. That there are people ready willing and able to prey on people, and possibly even kill them for a damned dollar simply outrages me. It isn't a *game*. . . . xox > > > > Hi everyone, > > Â > > My mother is really into treating whatever you can homeopathically. There is also a blogger, called, " One Sick Mother, " who has written much more than I have about these sites. The lasnofax is a product from Healing Plants Ltd.. According to her they offer other products often with the same ingredients for other conditions. Here is a quote from her blog: " Again, we also see that the same formulations of herbs are re-used several times to treat vastly different conditions. According to these guys, Uveitis, Keratosis Pilaris, Abdominal Adhesions, Achlasia, Peyronie's Disease, and Myasthenia Gravis can all be treated with " clear improvement within days " by taking their special formulation, which is a mixture of: ... " If you want to read more see: http://onesickmother.typepad.com/my_weblog/2009/08/healing-plants-ltd-scam.html As to the possibility of these products actually being true homeopathic products I see little chance. A lot of people use the term homeopathic to mean all kinds of things but it actually has a very specific meaning. Homeopathy has two main beliefs, that things become stronger by diluting them (contrary to science) and you treat symptoms with things that cause those symptoms (homeo=like, pathy=disease). I don't see that product fitting any of that. notan
