Guest guest
Hi. I just had to reply to your post. Scambled eggs are a no no when eating smooth/pureed food as they tend to stick. Use the food processor to finely smooth the scrambled eggs with some butter before trying to eat them. Yoghurt is fine just so long as there are no bits in it. When i had my surgery i used to eat a lot of mashed potato with some melted grated cheese for protein. Custard is great. A little and often is the key to getting food down. If you worry at all contact your specialist nurse or make an earlier followup appointment to see your surgeon. You maybe heading towards a dilatation. Phone then up. from the UK ________________________________ From: lindsaykite <lindsaykite@...> achalasia Sent: Wednesday, November 30, 2011 5:17 AM Subject: Eating after HM  So now I am 2 weeks post HM. Still got 2 more weeks of smooth/pureed food before 2 to 4 weeks of soft food. Wondering if it's normal to have 1/2 little tub of yogurt or custard, then have a break because it feels like it hasn't gone down yet. I have 1 scrambled egg for lunch and have to take a break. It feels like I can hardly eat anything right now. I always eat slowly but that doesn't help much. Am hoping this is because everything is still swollen and still healing from the op.....and nothing more! from Australia

Some people will have more swelling than others and so more difficulty swallowing. Some are lucky and go right to great swallowing but only time can tell if more treatment is needed if that is not the case. Unless you have a follow-up appointment soon I would check with your surgeon and see if he has any concerns. notan
Guest guest
So sorry to hear you're still struggling! What does your doctor say? Guest guest
I was wondering if it was normal to have difficulty swallowing following surgery before contacting my doctor. My first follow up appointment is still 5 weeks away. > > So sorry to hear you're still struggling!
