Good for you - I hope you have a fabulous outcome! I'll be very interested in

hearing how everything goes - I'll be having mine sometime the first of next

year (if all goes as planned).

Blessings,

Kim

Subject: It's HM day!!

I don't know whether I am excited to finally have this procedure done, or

nervous because I don't know if I will have a good outcome.

Anyway, it's the only way to move forward to know one way or the other.

I have learnt so much here in the short time I have been here.....thanks for all

the tips and hints.

All being well I will be back in 2 or 3 days.

Good luck , I Hope you have a quick and speedy recovery. I am a.month in

now and its such a relief to finally feel normal again. Some foods still are a

bit tricky, I have chosen to avoid bread as this for me proves the hardest to

get down and normally goes back up, also rice is tricky and chips but apart from

them its fantastic! Will be thinking of you x x Sam

Thanks Kim and Sam. I have read lots about rice still 'sticking' and have

wondered about bread too.

I am now sitting here waiting for the next 25 minutes to pass to I can leave for

the hospital.

Catch you all soon.

Good Luck. It seems we all have different things to overcome and different

choices about food and our health. Like I have learned that me and rice are not

going to be friends again but bread is ok to have around.

Well after 2 days in hospital I am finally home...always good to be home.

My procedure was a little tricky because Dr Bessell had to deal with a huge

hernia first, then the HM and the partial wrap. I am pretty sore and tired and

have sore shoulders from the gas. I couldn't eat anything for 32 hours, that

was hard.

Anyway, the procures went ok, but I guess only time will tell if it was

successful.

I am on smooth/pureed food for 4 weeks, then soft food for 2 to 4 weeks after

that. That surprised me because I had read here that some get to eat food

sooner than that.

Glad it's all done, and am now hoping for the best.

Welcome home!  It's good to hear that things went well. Get some rest and I

hope you're on the mend quickly!  Will look forward to hearing about your

progress.

Thanks Kim, wish I didn't have to wait so long to see how well (or not) it has

worked.

, do you notice the liquid going down better than before?  That was my

first sign that the surgery did help.  Let us know, best wishes for a smooth

recovery, the shoulder pain can last for up to 3 weeks as it did for me then it

suddenly just went away!  Hang in there!

Hi Julee,

yes I think liquids and most yogurts etc are going down without that gulping

feeling.

The shoulder pain is still severe 5 days after the op. I had a bad yesterday

where I was so tired and sick and I didn't want to eat anything.

Luckily today I feel better than yesterday, I wouldn't want too many days like

that.

My problem is finding enough variety to eat. I found some recipes on the net a

few weeks ago but can't seem to find them now.

I had my first spasm since the op this morning. It was so sore, and I wasn't

allowed to drink lots of water quickly like I used to. Hoping I don't get too

many of those while I am healing.

Hi ,

I'm sorry to hear you're having a tough time.

Wondering if you're able to get through these first days on your own - or do you

need to have someone there to help you?  I'm trying to put some plans in place

for my procedure and don't know how long it would be before I'm   " independent "

and can work again.

Hi Kim,

My husband was a home for the first 4 days I was home and has gone back to work

today. I was able to look after myself, he pretty much looked after the

household stuff (washing, dishes, cooking, shopping etc) and driving our boys to

school.

I would have been ok by myself but it was nice not having to make a cup of tea

or coffee when I wanted one.

My 18 year old has just finished school so he is around today and some other

days when he isn't working, so I won't have too much time alone.

I work from home on my PC but I haven't really felt up to doing any yet and

today is day 7.

I had 2 more spasms during the night last night which was really annoying.

Hi ,

So glad you have help and family around, I'm sure that does make it easier.

Really sorry to hear about the spasms - I can't imagine how awful that is when

you're so sore from the surgery - they're hard enough to bare on their own!

I've recently started taking donnatal - if I take it soon enough it seems to

calm them down, if now avoid the progression. I put one, or 1/2 tablet

(depending on how severe) under my tongue to dissolve since I can't swallow at

all with the spasms. May be something to try.

Good healing,

Kim
