Guest guest
Hi, Cody's mom! I would not take Cody off the diet when you start the enzymes. If he has a reaction, you need to be able to tell what is causing it. I would leave him on the diet for two weeks while you work out the dose. I did not follow my own advice, though! We got the enzymes on a Friday night after hearing Devin speak and went out to eat for lunch on Saturday! We did not see any reaction at all. We kept our son on the diet and added more planned infractions until I finally realized he was eating all regular food. You can read my son's success story in the " Files " section in the yellow box. My son also was on the diet for one year. I was more comfortable than most with challenging the diet with enzymes because my son was older (almost eight)and in the past, his food reactions included a very red bottom. I would know right away if my son was regressing from going off the diet. > We are about to start the peptizyde and I was wondering if I should > take him off the diet at the beginning or not? Guest guest
Hi and welcome, I agree with in that maybe you should keep Cody GFCF for the first week or two. This will give his body a chance to adjust to the increase in digested food. I also agree with in that I didn't do that. I gave my kids a Peptizyde and a bowl of ice cream (I figured that if the Pep didn't work at least they would get some enjoyment out of the trial, LOL). When you go to challenge the diet, start with an amount you can document, such a 1 bowl of cereal, or 1 sandwich, not just let him eat until he stops. This way you can have some reference for figuring out a dose. We have always used just 1 Pep for each meal and snack. But others have found they may need 2 with a particular food. We also have a quick way to tell for casein. We get bad headaches/migraine within 2-4 hours, so I know for sure if it is all broken down. The boys and I ate heavy casein at every meal and snack for two weeks with Peptizyde and didn't react at all. Now we just eat regular. My boys are 9 and 7 so it may be different for you. If you have a quick way to see a reaction, that will give you something to go on. Our story is in the Files section under D. we saw some improvement with the GFCF diet, but much more with enzymes. We were GFCF for 2 months, which is not very long compared to others (although it seemed like an eternity at the time, LOL). Please keep posting as you go. Good Luck. . > We are about to start the peptizyde and I was wondering if I should > take him off the diet at the beginning or not? Guest guest
We started by staying on the diet fully and introducing the enzymes and watching for reactions to them alone. Watch out, you may see more withdrawal come again! You may be amazed to see that there is more stuff you weren't even aware of! After that I would recommend planned infractions with that food that you think is the least offender and go from there to whateve level of increase feels okay. Keep track of the amount of enzyme you take, when you take it, what offending foods you ate, what happened behaviorally, bowel wise, physical reaction (hives, rashes, etc.) and of course any improvements. Mostly be sure to put the enzymes either in food (out of the capsules) or give them with liquid at least 30 minutes ahead of the food time. The veggie caps take about that long to dissove so that the enzymes themselves are in the stomach when the food hits. Then watch and see!
