I also live about 90 min. from any kind of 'real' care but what I did, the last time I was going for surgery - I made an appt. with my local urgent care, gave him copies of my records and basically explained to him that I was traveling for surgery but wanted a local contact for any kind of prescriptions, emergency kind of stuff. Worked really well, I was having some medication issues when I came home and I was able to meet with him and he already knew my deal. I'm sure that if necessary - he could have done an IV for me.
