Guest guest
----- Original Message ----- From: " gailmail27565 " <gailmail@...> > So how about it ladies.....WHAT REALLY MADE YOU EAT TODAY??? Damn good question. If we can really pin that down it will might help us control our eating. I've been trying to lose weight for 10 weeks now. (well, actually for 20 years.....) My biggest stumbling blocks have been meetings and other events where food is laid out for the taking. Ack. I've been so good about avoiding fast food and I've also been doing a pretty good job of controlling my eating at home. Today I had a big bowl of shredded wheat cereal for breakfast. That is my standard breakfast. I usually eat it whether or not I'm hungry in the morning. If I don't eat breakfast I tend to overeat later in the day. It was raining today so I stayed home after taking the kids to school and made a valance for the kitchen window and took down an old light fixture. I was very busy and I didn't eat lunch until after 3:30pm and I was extremely hungry. I ate two tomato sandwiches on hearty bread. If I had taken the time to eat earlier one sandwich would have probably satisfied me. That was just dumb but I was preoccupied and I wanted to get my jobs done before the kids got out of school. I still should have taken a quick lunch break though. For dinner I grabbed a quick bowl of leftover chicken and veggie stir fry over rice before dd's preschool open house. After the open house I went to a Mothers and More meeting and that's when I got into trouble. Banana bread and little tiny chocolate bars were out on the table in front of us. Ugh. I had two slices of banana bread and I think 3 chocolates. Not disastrous but still excessive food intake. I wasn't hungry. I was still comfortably full from dinner. In hind site I should have had one piece of banana bread. I really like that and it would have been a nice treat. I think this was a pretty typical day where waiting too long to eat and having food out at the meeting triggered over eating. The day was still a success eating wise. I'm pretty darn happy with it. I could be sliding into my old habits of having two whoppers with cheese on the way home from my meeting. Yikes. I love whoppers but I haven't had one in over 10 weeks. That must be some kind of record. Yes, I know I'm rambling and I need to go to sleep. I do think your call to analyze why we eat is important if we want to change our behaviour for life. Guest guest
I'm sorry to hear that you have been through such a tough time, I know how you feel as at the age of 31, I too have been told that all I can look forward to are two knee replacements. I can't give you any detailed info yet but I do know of two individuals who have had this surgery and both say that the joints are still very bad (but I'm in the UK not the US so maybe we're just not as good at this sort of surgery). I'm told that the replacement joints remained sore (just in a different way to how they were before) and are even unstable. Both operations were performed 6-7 years ago and I have been assured that techniques have improved since then but I can find no-one who has had replacements done recently (I'm still looking though). If you are going to have this surgery done I'd recommend finding a surgeon who has a number of success stories to his/her name as it seems a terribly drastic road to go down just to end up in a similar boat to the one you are already in. If I do find anything useful (and US based) I will let you know. Good luck luv ! > Hi there all! How is everyone doing today? My name is Cags I have had > chondromalacia (petella) since i was 12. Guest guest
Hi Sue, Anton does actually monitor the list so I've no doubt he'll say hello at some point. In the UK he actually gets to drive himself, scary I'm afraid but actually true. Oh and he still has a habit of leaving partners on scene when he leaps in the back of an ambulance doing his Trauma Junkie impressions leaving one medic and a locked response car behind him. Those nice police men usually give you a lift to catch up with him though !! :-) I'm told by Rob Cummings he used to do this in SA too..... I think that's probably enough abuse for now or the next time I want a weekend out with the service I can see what the answer will be..... Guest guest
Hi. I am new o achalasia and to this forum. Around 5 months ago I started waking up at night drowning and coughing. I thought it was my sinuses. I kept on telling my GP that it can't be reflux as it does not burn. Eventually she sent me for a gastroscopy and as soon as they put me under anesthetic liquid started pouring out of my nose and mouth. Fortunately the anesthetist managed to suck most of the liquid out before it got to my lungs, but it was a very scary experience. After having a gastrograffin swallow, another gastroscopy and manometry they have confirmed I have achalasia. I am scheduled to go for a HM on the 2nd of February. I have also found sleeping on a wedge helps, but I cough the whole night. I am tired all the time! We are South Africans living in Melbourne Australia, and it is hard not having my family around me for support.
