Guest guest
My daughter recently under went Botox. Her GI gave her 40mL instead of 80mL because of immediate swelling. But that is not what I am writing about. As many of you may know Taniea has had constant pain for many many months now and I am happy to report that we have finally gotten that somewhat under control and quiet by accident. We learned that she was severely constipated and she is now on Lactulose which she loves and it seems to be slowly helping. Taniea is still hurting regularly bad enough for her to not be able to stand up straight, food is still sticking a lot, she is having some regurgitation, she has dizziness or light headiness regularly, and she has nausea every day all day. She has been taking Zofran every 6hrs with no results and her pcp says that there is another medication available but that Zofran is newer, better, and has less side effects. Plus the side effects for the other is more neurological and Taniea doesn't need that. Here is my question: Does any one have these symptoms? Is this normal? What if anything I can do to help her? The doctors seem to be at a loss with all her seemingly growing list of strange uncontrollable symptoms. Thank you all Shamira
Guest guest
I'm sorry Taniea is struggling so. How old is she? Her symptoms don't sound strange - actually unfortunately common for achalasia. I do have a couple of comments though: The dizziness and light headedness could be related to low glucose from not getting enough nutrition. Have you tried Boost or some other high protein nutritional drink? This seems to go down easier and will provide some source of nutrition. Not sure why she would have nausea if she's not eating much, but if the zofran isn't working for her, then it really doesn't matter if it's the " best " in terms of side effects. We're all different and respond differently to meds. Find something that she responds to, there are a number of options. Finally, has Taniea been evaluated for a HM - or has she had this done? May be something to discuss with your doctor, especially if the botox doesn't seem to be helping her.
