Ken,

Thanks a lot. My local doc is open, sympathetic, and uses both

holistic and alleopathic remedies. He's a " good soul " . Just doesn't

have cutting-edge info, probably because he's on the older side

& winding his practice down.

Thanks for the info. This list is so full of info I became overwhelmed

and didn't know where to start. Your suggestion helps a lot.

Now I can possibly avoid throwing any more good money after bad;

stop paying for expensive treatments that haven't seemed to help

me.

Much gratitude for your knowledge & compassion,

Ellen

------------------

My criteria for tests is simple: if the test does not effect

/ support a specific treatment - Why get the ugly news without

hope?

Getting prescribed some treatments REQUIRE tests, others are

recommended or suggested....

First Choice: ISAC Panel ($460 - wrote a check this morning

for Laurie's ISAC Panel) - this measures what type of coagulation

you have...

main treatment is low dosage Heparin for ~ 4 months. This

means INJECTIONS, bruising at the injection point is NORMAL...

- chances of getting heparin from your MD without the test:

<< 1 %

- benefits: it alows antibiotics and anti-virals to get better

at the infections, reduces the intensity of herxing

Second Choice: Jadin's Rickettsia test, Nicholson PCR test (or

use Melbourne Forensic Labs) - test for specific infection types

main treatment is antibiotics for at least 3 months, likely

12+ months. This means battles with candida, herxheimer reactions

- chances of getting antibiotics from your MD without

the test: good IF the MD is willing to read the literature and

accept it as viable

(some will accept the herxheimer reaction as adequate

evidence - per Jadin's comments)

poor if the MD is opposed to antibiotics (especially

long term use) - even with a positive test result....

Third Choice: HHV6 - test for this virus

main treatment is Transfer Factor (does not require a prescription)

- but the test results may get medical insurance to pay for it

in some cases...

Only reason to get an MD involved is to get medical/prescription

insurance to pay for it...

NOTE: Immunepro may have a similar effect and appears

significantly cheaper

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Everything else I view as SYMPTOM tests -- and treatment is treating

symptoms.... --

IF ALL OF THE ABOVE ARE NEGATIVE ... then you are have " not typical "

CFIDS... and may wish to run chemical poisoning tests etc.

PS: If your MD is absolutely opposed to antibiotics, but is a

" good soul " , I would stay with him/her - get the ISAC panel,

the heparin if needed -- then do Transfer Factor, Immunepro and

Olive Leaf Extract - the odds are that you may get the same result

as doing antibiotics (just slower)...

What tests should I have? (Ken?)

Hi, all.

Maybe Ken would be the best to answer this. I'm not sure. Here's

the deal: Have had FMS for 20 1/2 years. Diagnosed 2 1/2 years

ago. Had hypothyroid before that. Had chronic strep throats before

that (all going back about 30 years). I have *Schuremann's epiphistosis,

which may be a contributor, but I believe many people have Schuremann's

and don't have FMS.

I want to attack the *causes* of my illness, not the *symptoms*.

What's the best way, or where is the best place, for me to

get tested to know what to treat? What test(s) should I have?

Also, all opinions welcome on the following: Are CFIDS and

FMS the same thing? Have heard conflicting answers.

With deep-felt gratitude,

Ellen

*Schuremann's epiphistosis - may be spelled wrong. Spinal deformity

causing wedge-shaped vertebrae with base to the back, tip to

the front of torso, causing kaifosis (don't know how to spell

kaifosis--shoulders & neck are forced forward).
